Our flight was changed 2 weeks before departure from an afternoon flight to a night flight. We arrived at our hotel at 5am.

Our return journey from our hotel in Austria to Malpensa, Milan airport was shown in our final travel documents as a journey of" approx 4 hours". This was a lie, as the direct route was just over 300 miles, & we were meant to go on a detour to Lake Garda to join up with other people returning to Exeter. Fortunately for us, an unexploded WW 2 bomb closed the Brenner pass for a few hours & our delayed departure from the hotel meant that it was impossible to get to the airport in time if we detoured to Lake Garda. Our return journey had no hold ups at all, & with the driver's legal breaks, took over 7 hours. We would never have booked the holiday if we had known that we wouldn't arrive at our hotel until 5am & the return trip to the airport would be over 300 miles. The reason people go from a local airport is to cut down on travelling time.

This two centre holiday was enjoyable but the travelling in between countries was tiresome. Hotel Cristina in Limone was good all round, as was Limone itself. Only spent two days there. The included excursion between Sirmione and Malchesine was by coach not boat as we thought it might be. Sporthotel Sonnenuhr in Austria was also good all round. (Not the hotel originally advertised).Spent three days there. Couple of museums, nice river walks, bus to Rattenburg was a highlight on our free day. Included excursions to Innsbruck and Saltzburg were worth going, even with the 'walking tour'local guide for an hour or two.

Overall we really enjoyed the holiday however the food in the Italian hotel was excellent there was so much choice and it was tasty and you could eat as much as you wanted, however the hotel in Austria struggled to raise a smile or greeting when we arrived(they did improve the following day) and in regards to the evening meal this was very meager salad to start(ok) but main meal was very tiny portions and desert was ice cream but we were all told "we could eat any leftovers from their other paying guests desert table!" I must say that we really felt valued customers!!! and some nights their was half a dozen puddings left for all us poor folks (all 24 of us) As some people said it was insulting.

Overall a very enjoyable and we'll organised holiday. But there were a few disappointments. Firstly the bathroom at the hotel at Limone was so tiny you could hardly get into it and was well overdue a refurbishment. It was lovely to have a balcony but would have preferred not to have to peer through the branches of 2 enormous trees to see the view! Please cut them down for the sake of future guests.
The hotel at Fugen in Austria was not the one we were originally booked into and whilst a lovely place it was too far away from the main town and not ideal for those less mobile in our party. It was also disappointing that we did not have a balcony to take in the stunning mountain views.
Having said all that we had a great time and thoroughly enjoyed all the trips we went on. Would recommend this holiday.

Hotel Christina at Limone, Lake Garda - lovely views but accommodation very shabby and small rooms, you could hear the conversations from the adjoining rooms., Food average, but good choice. A long away from the lake, hotel shuttle mini bus inadequate.
Hotel Bruno at Fugen, Austria - excellent accommodation and food
