Discover a beguiling mix of pristine nature and vibrant culture on our spectacular Finland guided tours.
Consistently ranked as one of the world's happiest countries, and with an abundance of both natural and cultural sights and attractions to enjoy, Finland has plenty to offer. Despite this, the country is somewhat overlooked as a holiday destination, often in favour of its more boisterous neighbours. Those that do make the trip to this enchanting corner of the world, however, will find plenty to impress. While it is perhaps best known for its forested landscapes, clean air and effortlessly cool design scene, Finland offers plenty of other attractions. A thriving culinary industry, superb wildlife watching opportunities and the chance to explore beautifully wild landscapes all add to its appeal as an excellent holiday destination.
Home to impressively dense forests and postcard-worthy lakes, the natural scenery is what draws many of the country's visitors. Be it exploring one of the stunning national parks, spotting brown bears in a photography hide or taking in the sights from the water on a summer lake cruise, Finland holidays offer the very best of the great outdoors. While summer here provides the chance to enjoy the plentiful cruises, festivals, and midnight sun, winter can be equally enticing, with opportunities for sleigh rides, skiing and northern lights spotting making a fair trade for the lack of sunshine. Whichever season you visit, you'll find plenty in the way of culture to explore, with more than 300 museums located across the country. Another must-do is a visit to one of Finland's numerous saunas. Ubiquitous and sometimes even found in the country's libraries, they remain an important part of Finnish culture.
As well as its superb natural assets, Finland has several vibrant cities to explore. The capital, Helsinki, is renowned for its beautiful 20th-century architecture and contemporary design scene. Brimming with trendy coffee shops, world-class art and a number of beautiful cathedrals, the city is pleasingly walkable and provides the chance to hop on a boat to one of the 330 nearby islands that make up its archipelago. Away from the capital, Finland's second city, Porvoo, is a charming medieval city famous for its red riverfront houses, while lively Turku is home to a medieval castle and pleasant waterfront restaurants.

Dark rye is another staple of the country's diet, and is used to make everything from bread to porridge.
For classic dishes to try on Finland tours, soups are a good place to start. Ubiquitious and featuring everything from fish to cabbage, they are a mainstay of the country's cuisine. Meatballs, or lihapullat, is another favourite, usually served with mashed potatoes and gravy, while karjalanpiirakka, or rice pies, are a popular breakfast made from rye pastry filled with rice porridge.
