Finland is blessed with dramatic scenery, a plethora of ancient sites, and modern sensibilities that make it one of the most aesthetically pleasing nations to visit.

With a Finland cruise, you can see the very best of this nation by the Baltic Sea

Newmarket Holidays Finland Cruises can encompass all sorts of unforgettable highlights. You can head towards the arctic circle and see the northern lights, or get off at Helsinki and soak in the delights of the city centre like Senate Square and Market Square - both easily within walking distance of each other. If you’re feeling adventurous you can head to the bustling Port of Helsinki and catch the Viking Line over to Estonia. And, as most would expect from the stereotypically functionally-minded Nordics, the public transport within the cities is seamless.

While Finland itself offers hundreds of unmissable attractions, there are other cruises from Helsinki available. The Tallink Silja, or Silja Line, takes you across the Baltic Sea. Or, you can head the other way and add a trip to the Norwegian fjords to your itinerary, passing by the aurora borealis on a Scandinavian cruise as you do. The choice is up to you.

Food and Drink

Nothing warms the soul (and chest) like Lakka.

This is a famous Finnish liqueur made from Cloudberry fruit. The fruits themselves can withstand temperatures of up to -40c, and with a few sips of the drink you might be able to too.

Ruisleipa, or Finnish rye bread, is a staple for the locals here thanks to its full, malty flavour and filling nature. Head to a bakery in the morning to get a fresh loaf, and devour it with a bit of salted butter for a rustic but unforgettable taste experience.

A land of lakes and seas, it’s no surprise the seafood in Finland is top-notch, but even so nothing quite reaches the delicious peak of Gravlax. The cured salmon dish is a firm local favourite and rightly so: on a nice slice of bread with some cream cheese and dill, it’s divine.
