With our solo holidays, tailored for the like-minded and designed with the curious in mind, you may be travelling solo, but you’ll never feel alone. The development and launch of this collection, alongside 25 no single supplement classic and festive tours, was driven by the necessity to bring back journeys that allow both the seasoned and first-time traveller to explore the world again while being escorted.
Newmarket Holidays have nine exclusively solo holidays, focused on showcasing our most popular wish-list destinations, which promise unique opportunities to discover, learn, and connect, both under our guidance and on your own time. As a result of the thoughtfully balanced itineraries being inspired by specific interests and hobbies, you’re also guaranteed a well-matched group to share experiences of a lifetime with.
This is your holiday, but you’re in our safe hands, specifically those of the experienced and friendly tour manager. Serving as a local host, your designated guide will ensure the comfort, wellbeing and unity of the group while bringing the itinerary to life throughout. For additional support, advice, and recommendations, they’ll always be on standby to oversee the seamless operations of every travel arrangement.
Although you’ll be on a group tour, having your own private guestroom and bathroom facilities is a given. Depending on the centrally located accommodation available, you’ll have a twin or double guestroom or in some cases, a designated single room. The included excursions will be experienced alongside fellow travellers, so you’ll always have like-minded guests around to share those wish-list moments with. We’ve also curated the collection to offer plenty of time for self-exploration and free days with unguided visits.
How much interaction you’d like to engage in is a personal preference, however, we’ve included a few opportunities to support getting to know the other travellers. A welcome drink and dinner on the first night of each tour provide a perfect chance to connect from the get-go, and a farewell dinner during the final evening means you can reflect, celebrate and share stories with your new-found friends. On most of the tours, the meal plans operate on a flexible board basis, which means you have the independence to dine where you want or at your leisure.
From an exploration through Vietnam and Cambodia and island hopping off the Dalmatian Coast, to immersing yourself in the breathtaking landscapes of the Scottish Highlands, Sicily, Kenya and India, our latest solo tours are packed with captivating experiences.
There are also 25 hand-picked tours across our classic and festive touring collection, which have no single supplement on selected departure dates. Stay closer to home with a nature-centred getaway to the Norwegian fjords, traverse the vineyards fringing the Douro River of Portugal, or marvel at the Inca treasures in Peru’s Sacred Valley. The availability is limited, but we’ve got no shortage of options for solo travellers to choose from. Look out for the Solo Traveller icon throughout the website to see which tours are the best option for you.
Entering the 'over 50' bracket shouldn't signify the end of exploration; rather, it's an exciting time to embrace solo travel tours, granting you the freedom to create your dream holiday. With the comfort of organised tours and a welcoming community of like-minded travellers, our over-50s holidays offer an affordable, stress-free gateway to discovery.
Taking your first solo trip? Here's what you might be wondering...
If you’d prefer to stay close to home for your first tour, check out our solo tours to Scotland, Croatia and Italy. Highlights of the Scottish Highlands, Delights of Croatia and A Snapshot of Western Sicily are based on customer favourites and would all be a good starting point.
No, the price listed for solo tours is the price you pay. There are no single supplements on top of this.
You’ll always have a guestroom of your own on our solo tours. You’re never expected to share a hotel room. Most of the time, you’ll receive a double bed or twin beds for sole occupancy, but occasionally hotels offer the option of a single bed at a discount.
Our itineraries offer a mix of included and optional excursions, so you can dip in and out as much or as little as you like. We understand that ‘me time’ is important and you’ll never be forced to join in when you don’t wish to.
Only if this is your preference. Our tour managers host included mealtimes and where meals are not included, make suggestions about restaurants, cafes and bars where the group can dine together if they would like to do so.
Of course not! You should ideally be travelling alone, though. If you’d like to travel with your partner, we have a wide range of non-solo holidays and tours to check out.
Due to General Data Protection Regulation reasons, we're unable to share this information, but we’re sure you’ll make a friend or two!
The number of people on a solo tour varies, but on average it’s about 25 to 30 people.
