Introducing Ambience


With a name that in itself conjures images of warm welcome and conviviality, 70,000-tonne Ambience, measuring over 800 feet from elegant stem to stern, offers every modern comfort, exuding the friendly service and traditional values that Newmarket Holidays’ customers have previously enjoyed at sea. Across her 11 decks, she offers everything to ensure that life aboard is a pleasure from start to finish. Carrying an average of 1400 passengers in 798 comfortable cabins, many with private balconies, the ship offers an overall sense of spaciousness, especially in the three-tiered central Atrium, in the near 700-seat, fully equipped show lounge, in which guests can be royally entertained each evening, and on her wonderful top decks, on which guests can ‘soak up the sun’.

Originally built in Italy in 1991, extensively refurbished in 2017, and upgraded to meet International Marine Organisation Tier III emission-reduction compliance before commencing operations under the Ambassador Cruise Line flag, Ambience will provide a full range of cruising comforts on her extensive programme of exciting itineraries from London Tilbury. Her exciting sailing schedule includes ‘Round Britain’ cruises, sailings to the Norwegian Fjords, the Baltic, Greenland and Iceland, and longer, expedition-style voyages to the Canaries, the Caribbean and Canada’s eastern seaboard.

Dining – always a pleasure!

One of the greatest pleasures of life aboard Ambience is the chance to enjoy delicious food prepared by skilled chefs and served in a wonderful convivial atmosphere that can be enjoyed with your travelling companion or new-found friends. With a host of on-board activities to ensure that any calories inevitably gained can, if you wish, be burned off in the fitness centre or with a few turns around the deck, even the most diet-conscious can avoid pangs of guilt, despite the wonderful array of tempting culinary delights to be found in the ship’s various dining rooms. From a full English breakfast – or a traditional continental variety – through a leisurely lunch, and on to the highlight of the culinary day, the evening meal, the ship’s kitchens will surprise and delight you every day of your cruise.

British and International Cuisine

A choice of dining options brings opportunities for you to plan your meals as you would at home, in as casual or formal way as possible. Begin your day with breakfast, either in the dining room or on deck. In addition to a full range of buffet offerings, you can order your eggs exactly as you like them, cooked as fresh as the morning. Lunch – a relaxed casual affair – is similarly presented in a buffet style, often with local specialities such as a Catch of the Day. Indeed, one of the ways in which your palate is delighted is by the great variety of dishes prepared according to the traditions of the destinations you are visiting, served alongside those tailored to suit British tastes.

When evening comes, whether it’s a formal night, when the ladies like to dress for the occasion and gentlemen don jacket and tie and sometimes dress suits in traditional style, or a dress-down ‘party-night’, the highlight of the day is inevitably the spread prepared by the kitchen team. Delicious appetisers, salads and soups and a choice of main courses, whether pastas, seafood or meat dishes, and an array of desserts presented by the pastry chefs – or a tempting cheese platter – ensure that you leave the table each night vowing that tomorrow, the diet begins again! Of course, there are healthy options and vegetarian choices offered on every mouth-watering menu. In addition, a choice of dining venues brings the chance to enjoy a change of scenery and often a lighter meal – something often appreciated on longer voyages.

As long as you’re aboard ship, you’ll never go hungry, since in addition to meal times, there are afternoon tea and even late-night snacks to keep tummies from rumbling!

The Ultimate Dining Experience

We are delighted to offer Ambience guests The Chef’s Table, an exclusive VIP multi-course dining experience, specially created and hosted by the Executive Chef. Enjoy a private sparkling wine cocktail and canapés reception, a tour of the galley in operational mode and a splendid nine-course menu accompanied with specially selected wines. The Executive Chef remains with the guests throughout the meal, describing the ingredients and techniques used to produce each of the courses. The Chef’s Table experience can be reserved on board at an additional cost, subject to availability.
