What's included on an over 60s escorted tour
Every Newmarket escorted tour includes the travel, the accommodation and a tour manager to look after you, with all local taxes and charges built into the price you're quoted.
What isn't included: travel insurance, optional excursions you choose to add on the day or in advance, and any meals the itinerary lists as being at your expense. Each tour page sets out its own meal plan and excursion list, so it's worth having a read.
Every tour sets out exactly what you get for the price you're quoted. On a typical over-60s holiday, that includes:
Your flights, rail or coach travel from the UK, with group transfers from your arrival airport, Eurostar terminal or river cruise port
Hotels chosen for location and quality, with breakfast included and a mix of lunches and dinners depending on the itinerary
A dedicated tour manager for the length of the trip, acting as your host, guide and first point of contact
The main sightseeing and excursions named in the itinerary, with local guides where the destination calls for one
Solo holidays for the over 60s
Travelling on your own in your 60s doesn't have to mean being the only person in the group who arrived alone, and on selected tours, you can avoid paying a single supplement too. Here are the two options to look for:
Exclusively for Solos tours
On our Exclusively Solos tours, every traveller in the group is there on their own, and your own private room is included in the price at no extra cost. Groups are deliberately small, usually 18 to 20 people and never more than 24, and your tour manager handles introductions early, often over a welcome drink on the first evening. Itineraries mix guided excursions with days at leisure, so there's structure when you want it and space when you don't.
No single supplement places on Classic tours
If you'd rather travel in a mixed group of couples, friends and solo travellers, selected departures on our classic tours release a limited number of no single supplement tour places. Your own room is included, with no single supplement to pay. These places are capped per departure and tend to go early, so it's worth booking as soon as you've settled on your dates.

How to choose the right pace and group size
Group size is the main difference between our tour collections, and it's worth knowing which one you're looking at before you compare itineraries.
- Classic tours - the widest choice of destinations and departure dates, with group sizes that vary by season and can reach around 50 at peak times
- Small Group tours - the same style of itinerary in a group averaging 18 to 20 and usually no more than 24, using smaller vehicles and smaller hotels
- Premier Collection tours - more intimate tours run at a lighter pace, with more time in each place and more distinctive or luxurious accommodation
- Exclusively for Solos - designed for solo travellers, with group sizes balanced to help people get to know each other quickly
- Tour Plus - any classic or Premier tour with an added beach stay, city break, cruise or event, for when you'd rather not come straight home
If you want fewer early starts and more time in each hotel, the Premier Collection is the one to look at first. If you want the broadest choice of destinations and dates, start with the classic tours.

Short breaks in the UK and Ireland
With more time on your hands comes more opportunity to explore what has been right in front of you, which is why many customers look closer to home first. Discover another side to the UK on the Historic Railways of the Isle of Man or the Scottish Highland Railways, or cross to Ireland for Donegal and the Giant’s Causeway, Galway, Connemara and Ireland’s Stunning West and spend a few days with Belfast and the Titanic Experience. A short break is also an easy way to see how escorted travel suits you before you book something longer.
Europe by rail and river
Rail and river travel work well if you'd rather not keep packing and unpacking. You settle in once, and the scenery comes to you. Our rail holidays cover Switzerland's mountain railways, Scotland's Highland lines and some of Europe's most scenic routes, while our river cruises follow the River Rhine, River Danube, River Douro and River Rhone, with excursions ashore each day.
Long-haul and bucket-list trips
If you're seeking a holiday with plenty of opportunity to get out into the great outdoors, there's plenty of that too. When's the best time of year to travel in your 60s
The quietest and most comfortable months for the majority of European destinations are the shoulder seasons, roughly April to early June and September to October. Temperatures are easier, the major sites are less crowded, and prices are often lower than in peak summer. Two different options open up in winter: long-haul winter sun in Asia, Africa and the Caribbean, and European Christmas markets in late November and December. If you're no longer tied to school holidays, travelling in these windows is the easiest way to get more from the same budget.
What an over 60s holiday costs and how to spread the payment
Prices vary by destination, tour length and departure date, and every tour page shows the current price for each departure alongside any offer. If you'd rather not pay the balance in one go, our Easy Payment Plan lets you secure your place with a deposit and pay the rest by monthly Direct Debit on a date you choose.
There's also a zero deposit option, where nothing is paid upfront as long as your Direct Debit mandate is set up within 14 days of booking. Both are available when you book directly with us on holidays departing in 12 weeks or more, and some exclusions apply. Travel insurance should be in place from the point of booking either way.
Booking with confidence
Every booking comes with our Peace of Mind Promise. All our tours are ATOL, ABTOT and ABTA protected, so if a trip is cancelled we'll find you an alternative or refund you in full. For tours departing in 2026 we won't add surcharges after you've booked, and we won't charge admin fees if you need to amend your booking, although supplier charges may still apply. Our team is available seven days a week before you go, and 24 hours a day while you're on tour.
