Discover a landscape marked by crashing waterfalls and ancient villages as Magellan cruises up Hardangerfjord, and along the vast length of Sognefjord, past deep forests and towering mountains, to the tiny village of Flam.

Spend a relaxed day exploring Bergen's lively fish market and Bryggen, its lovingly regenerated warehouse district now full of unusual shops and stylish restaurants and bars. Explore the Shetland Islands' capital, Lerwick; step ashore in Kirkwall to see St Magnus Cathedral or cross the island to gaze out across the historic waters of Scapa Flow; and explore the tiny settlements and spectacular scenery of the Isle of Skye and the Isle of Mull.

    Enjoy spectacular scenery as Magellan cruises through the 100km-long Hardangerfjord to Eidfjord. Here you can go ashore to enjoy an optional excursion through the beautiful surrounding countryside, perhaps taking in the famous Voringfossen waterfalls.

    The remote village of Flam is set in one of Sognefjord’s most remote corners. From here, there's the chance to enjoy a truly unforgettable shore excursion, boarding the world-famous Flamsbana Mountain Railway for the journey, through the region's breathtaking scenery, to Myrdal.

    This morning Magellan arrives in Bergen, one of the most beautifully located cities in the world. This ancient fishing and trading port, spectacularly set amid hills and fjords, is also one of Northern Europe’s most enjoyable destinations. Step ashore to explore the harbour and fish market, discover Bryggen’s historic wooden warehouses or ride the funicular to the summit of Floyen - the best known of Bergen's "city mountains".

    Lerwick, the Shetland Islands’ rugged capital, is your gateway to an ancient land of legend, traditional crafts and an incredible abundance of bird life. Discover the town, or join the optional excursion to the 3,000 year-old archaeological site at Jarlshof, with its Bronze and Iron Age remains.

    Depart: 1800hrs

    Explore the historic capital of Orkney as Magellan docks in Kirkwall, situated a mile from the waters of Scapa Flow, where HMS Royal Oak sunk in WW2. Take the chance to visit Kirkwall’s magnificent centrepiece, St Magnus Cathedral, or join an optional shore excursion to discover the highlights of the island’s unique mix of history, archaeology, crafts and wildlife.

    The Isle of Skye is a wonderful place to explore. Spend the day in picturesque Portree, with its quayside fish ’n’ chip shops, or join an excursion and head north, past the Old Man of Storr, to Duntum’s Museum of Island Life; west to brooding Dunvegan Castle; south past the spectacular Cuillins; or even across the bridge to mainland Scotland.

    The beautiful island of Mull offers breathtaking scenery, abundant wildlife and a spectacular coastline. The small town of Tobermory, with its picturesque, multi-coloured houses encircling the waterfront, is a delightful place to explore, as is nearby famous Duart Castle, the seat of Clan Maclean.
