Day One

Fly from your chosen airport to Vilnius or Kaunas. Meet your Tour Manager and transfer to your hotel in the Lithuanian capital. Enjoy your first evening exploring Eastern Europe's largest Old Town - a mainly pedestrianised maze of narrow lanes and hidden courtyards, studded with ornate churches, palaces and relics of the city's colourful past.

Day Two

This morning join our included guided tour to uncover Vilnius' eventful history. Restored to former glory, the city is full of highlights - such as the Gothic Church of St Anne, historic palaces, and the quirky bust of music legend Frank Zappa, a symbol of the country's newfound freedoms in the 1990s.

This afternoon, board the coach for the short journey to Lithuania's fairy-tale Island Castle of Trakai where you will enjoy a guided tour. Then continue through central Lithuania's rolling, forested hills, into Latvia. After checking into your hotel in the cosmopolitan capital, Riga, enjoy your first evening in the Baltic States' largest city.

Day Three

A guided tour will showcase Riga, one of Europe's most rapidly growing cities. Its architectural mix includes the ultra-modern as well as a walled central core, the UNESCO-listed 'Quiet Centre' district's Art Nouveau glories, and the Dutch-influenced House of the Blackheads - the temporary home of the Latvian presidency.

This afternoon, join the optional excursion to the fascinating Open-Air Ethnographic Museum, depicting 19th-century life in rural Latvia with over 100 preserved buildings rebuilt in a beautiful forested setting. Afterwards, spend another evening in vibrant Riga.

Day Four

Journey into Estonia, pausing at the elegant 'summer capital' Parnu, with its 19th-century villas and colourful historic centre. You'll continue to the capital, Tallinn, an architectural treasure-chest that includes a UNESCO-listed Old Town - one of Europe's most complete medieval heritage sites. Check into your hotel and enjoy the city's vibrant cafe culture this evening.

Day Five

Today a local guide will show you around Tallinn. The city's sights include the Gothic Town Hall, bustling Viru Street, and Toompea Castle. The rest of the day is free, with an optional excursion to Peter the Great's magnificent Kadriorg Palace, an 18th-century Baroque gem that now houses the Estonian Art Museum's collection.

Spend a second evening in pretty Tallinn, perhaps dining in one of Old Town Square's many restaurants.

Day Six

Head south back into Latvia and the beautiful landscape of the Gauja National Park, a forested, alpine refuge for elk, European bison and brown bears. You'll stay overnight in the romantic, historic town of Cesis, with its wooden buildings and lakeside park.

Day Seven

Make a scenic journey, via the Baroque-Rococo grandeur of Latvia's Rundale Palace and its formal gardens. Enjoy a guided tour before you return to spend a final evening in Vilnius, where you might enjoy a farewell dinner with newfound friends.

Day Eight

Transfer back to the airport today for the return flight to the UK, at the end of a truly fascinating holiday.

Excellent work by tour leader and driver Lovely hotels except one in Tallinn was too far out for walking late at night. Have recommended this holiday to my friends. Very efficient company. Good value. Thanks. Even single rooms were good.

Stourbridge Couple
We felt that the holiday would have been more enjoyable if we had flown into Vilnius or Tallinn and home from the other city. This would have reduced the time travelling in the coach and allowed more time for the visits and meal breaks, which, at times, felt rather rushed.

Hello Ian, thank you for your suggestion. Unfortunately you can only fly direct from Tallinn to Heathrow, Gatwick or Stansted. Nothing from you chosen departure airport Luton or from any other regional airports that we feature. As this is a touring holiday we need to keep the arrival and departure cities the same from an operational point of view. We are delighted to hear that you enjoyed all three fascinating cities.

There was too much coach travel because we had to return to Vilnius. Rescheduling required by flying to Vilnius and leaving from Tallinn and omitting Celsis completely.

Good value for money, but the hotel in Cesis was poor. No lift. The food was good, but service was slow. Decor in rooms needed refreshing. rooms not available by mid-afternoon. Other hotels were well situated and of good quality.
