Island hideaways & secret cities

Discover some of the Baltic's most charming but little-known destinations. Wander the pretty streets of half-timbered houses around St Torv market in Ronne on Danish Bornholm, see the wooden cottages, cobbled streets and Gothic churches that shelter behind Visby's city walls on Swedish Gotland, and stroll around the unspoilt old town of Klaipeda in Lithuania - once one of the Cold War's most secretive ports. Step ashore in Gdynia, on the Polish coast just a few miles from elegant Gdansk and one of Poland's most striking modern cities.

As Columbus cruises east and north from Tilbury you'll also have opportunities to step ashore in Rotterdam, Copenhagen and the idyllic artists' haven of Skagen at Denmark's northernmost point. There's even the chance to head inland from the German port of Warnemunde on an unforgettable optional shore excursion to Berlin.
