Experience the best of the Rhine
Join Olympia as she sails from the pretty Rhineland town of Andernach to Cologne, via the magnificent, UNESCO-listed Middle Rhine. Visit the river's pretty wine towns, as Olympia calls in Boppard, Rudesheim, Mainz and Koblenz, many of which boast beautiful Altstaedte (old towns) of half-timbered houses, towering church spires and welcoming wine taverns.
Join our coach from your local pick-up point, or make your own way to the port, and board the ferry for our overnight sailing across the North Sea.
Following an early morning arrival in Amsterdam, continue by coach to join Olympia in Andernach, where you'll enjoy dinner and a first evening on board.
Enjoy a relaxed first morning on board as Olympia begins her journey from Andernach, sailing towards the pretty wine town of Boppard. Step ashore to enjoy a guided walking tour that introduces its historic quarter, pretty houses and Roman fort, then choose to spend the evening soaking up the night-time atmosphere in the town or back at the ship for dinner and entertainment on board.
As Olympia cruises into the glorious Middle Rhine, today you're treated to glorious scenery comprised of rolling vineyards, ancient towns and legendary sights. We'll pass the pretty village of Bad Salzig and Sankt Goar, and head through the narrow gorge beneath the Lorelei - from which, according to legend, sirens were said to have lured sailors to their deaths.
In the afternoon Olympia calls at Rudesheim, a town celebrated for its history of wine production and its bustling Drosselgasse street packed with traditional wine taverns. Opt to join our excursion to Siegfried's Musikkabinett to discover its curious wonders and enjoy a wine tasting, then enjoy dinner on board and perhaps an evening in the town.
Historic Mainz, capital of the Rhineland-Palatinate, is Olympia's first stop this morning. Step ashore and perhaps join our optional walking tour to discover the beautiful Altstadt, the impressive six-towered cathedral and the Gutenberg Museum, which celebrates the history of the printing press.
Re-join Olympia in the afternoon as she continues to Koblenz, where the Rhine meets the Moselle. Explore its ancient old town or take a stroll in its colourful gardens and along the riverfront promenade, before returning to the ship for dinner and entertainment on board.
As Olympia spends the morning cruising downriver, we'll pass delightful Konigswinter, the beautiful Siebengebirge (Seven Hills) and the former German capital, Bonn, before arriving into Cologne - our final destination - early this afternoon. Choose to stay in the city and explore, or join our optional coach excursion into the Ahr Valley, a beautiful wine region famous for its Pinot Noir and its pretty spa towns. Upon returning to Cologne, explore the city's old town and the impressive cathedral in the company of a local guide.
Re-join Olympia this evening for a celebratory Farewell Gala Dinner, and toast a wonderful few days with your fellow passengers.
Say goodbye to Olympia this morning, and begin your journey home via the overnight DFDS Seaways' sailing back to Newcastle.
We'll arrive in Newcastle in the morning, and continue by coach to the local area.
Your final travel documents, including the exact time and place of departure, will be sent to you approximately 10 days prior to departure, providing all payments have been made. We are unable to give exact departure times before this.

Where possible, non-rigid suitcases are easier to store within your cabin.

On rare occasions, the Captain may need to alter the Cruise Itinerary. If this happens, the Cruise Manager will keep passengers informed.
The majority of cabins on board are 10.5m square. Single cabins are approximately 7.7m square. (These measurements include the bathroom.) Standard Promenade cabins are 15m square and most have double beds (which do not convert to sofas), but they do not have a table or stool and will by subject to engine noise during overnight and early morning sailing.
