Deck Plans

Click here to display the deck plans for this cruise.

Day One

Join our coach from your local pick-up point, or make your own way to the port, and board the ferry for our overnight sailing across the North Sea.

Day Two

Following an early morning arrival in Amsterdam, continue by coach to join Olympia in Andernach, where you'll enjoy dinner and a first evening on board.

Day Three

Enjoy a relaxed first morning on board as Olympia begins her journey from Andernach, sailing towards the pretty wine town of Boppard. Step ashore to enjoy a guided walking tour that introduces its historic quarter, pretty houses and Roman fort, then choose to spend the evening soaking up the night-time atmosphere in the town or back at the ship for dinner and entertainment on board.

Day Four

As Olympia cruises into the glorious Middle Rhine, today you're treated to glorious scenery comprised of rolling vineyards, ancient towns and legendary sights. We'll pass the pretty village of Bad Salzig and Sankt Goar, and head through the narrow gorge beneath the Lorelei - from which, according to legend, sirens were said to have lured sailors to their deaths.

In the afternoon Olympia calls at Rudesheim, a town celebrated for its history of wine production and its bustling Drosselgasse street packed with traditional wine taverns. Opt to join our excursion to Siegfried's Musikkabinett to discover its curious wonders and enjoy a wine tasting, then enjoy dinner on board and perhaps an evening in the town.

Day Five

Historic Mainz, capital of the Rhineland-Palatinate, is Olympia's first stop this morning. Step ashore and perhaps join our optional walking tour to discover the beautiful Altstadt, the impressive six-towered cathedral and the Gutenberg Museum, which celebrates the history of the printing press.

Re-join Olympia in the afternoon as she continues to Koblenz, where the Rhine meets the Moselle. Explore its ancient old town or take a stroll in its colourful gardens and along the riverfront promenade, before returning to the ship for dinner and entertainment on board.

Day Six

As Olympia spends the morning cruising downriver, we'll pass delightful Konigswinter, the beautiful Siebengebirge (Seven Hills) and the former German capital, Bonn, before arriving into Cologne - our final destination - early this afternoon. Choose to stay in the city and explore, or join our optional coach excursion into the Ahr Valley, a beautiful wine region famous for its Pinot Noir and its pretty spa towns. Upon returning to Cologne, explore the city's old town and the impressive cathedral in the company of a local guide.

Re-join Olympia this evening for a celebratory Farewell Gala Dinner, and toast a wonderful few days with your fellow passengers.

Day Seven

Say goodbye to Olympia this morning, and begin your journey home via the overnight DFDS Seaways' sailing back to Newcastle.

Day Eight

We'll arrive in Newcastle in the morning, and continue by coach to the local area.

Joining your holiday

Your final travel documents, including the exact time and place of departure, will be sent to you approximately 10 days prior to departure, providing all payments have been made. We are unable to give exact departure times before this.

Meal arrangements

Where meals are not included, your driver will ensure there are suitable stops made for you to purchase and enjoy lunch and/or dinner each day.

Special requirements

If you have notified us of any special requirements, please check that they have been noted and acknowledged. This is especially important with any dietary needs you may have.

Disabled access

The majority of our tours involve a certain amount of walking, including a short walk from the coach stop to the town, attraction or venue you're visiting. If you are bringing a wheelchair, please let us know at the time of booking so that appropriate arrangements can be made.

Optional shore excursions

Optional excursions are available on all cruises, and we recommend that you book now to secure your place. If the number of bookings needed to operate any excursion is not reached, the excursion may be cancelled. In this case your payment will be refunded in full.

Pre-paid drinks package

Spend just £17.50 per person per night, and enjoy unlimited draught beer, house wine and soft drinks (including water, tea and coffee) between 10am and midnight while on board Olympia. All other drinks are not included. The drinks package must be purchased by every person occupying a particular cabin.

Tipping is not compulsory, but from experience we know that many passengers like to leave gratuities for the crew. An envelope will be left in your cabin for this purpose.

Dress code

The dress code on board and ashore is casual. After 7pm, in the lounge and restaurant, shorts are not permitted, and footwear and a shirt or T-shirt must be worn.

Where possible, non-rigid suitcases are easier to store within your cabin.

The tap water on board is safe to drink, but may not be to your taste due to the purification system.

Itinerary changes

On rare occasions, the Captain may need to alter the Cruise Itinerary. If this happens, the Cruise Manager will keep passengers informed.

Cabin sizes

The majority of cabins on board are 10.5m square. Single cabins are approximately 7.7m square. (These measurements include the bathroom.) Standard Promenade cabins are 15m square and most have double beds (which do not convert to sofas), but they do not have a table or stool and will by subject to engine noise during overnight and early morning sailing.

Wensleydale Friends
The weather was brilliant. Lovely cruising in hot sun with the breeze from the river and no
shortage of sun-loungers. Beautiful scenery, good choice of town to explore each day.
Comfortable cabin, small boat with relatively few passengers. Good food. Evening entertainment not really needed as it was so pleasant on deck.

Darlington Couple
The main problem was a very poorly written itinery. This missed out the fact that our UK coach was to accompany us across the North Sea. Not aware of this we expected our luggage to be in our DFDS cabin and were very upset to find we were unable to acsess our medications until we landed in Holland. Many other details of the cruise were omitted.

It seemed to us that whoever wrote out the schedule hadn,t a clue how to set out such a simple task.
We suggest you have a competent person re-write the itinery completely as amatter of urgency.
We also discovered that the food on the ferry crossing was very expensive and of sub-standard quality.
Despite this poor start we thoroughly enjoyed the cruise, the Rhine vista's, the cruise ship food (especially good quality) was superb, the lovely fellow passengers, the excellent ship's crew and not least, what a busy yet disciplined country Germany and its people appeared to be.
We would recommend the trip to anyone.
