Day One

Fly to Boston, and upon arrival, meet your Tour Manager and board the coach for the transfer to the hotel on the outskirts of the city.

Day Two

Board the coach to enjoy a full day in America's most European city, joining the fascinating optional guided tour to explore the famous 'Freedom Trail' through its compact heart, taking in the gold-domed State House, the green acres of Boston Common and the cobbled streets of historic Beacon Hill. Visit colourful Quincy Market with its speciality stalls, or perhaps cross the Charles River to famous Harvard University, before returning to the hotel.

Day Three

Make the scenic journey north, through the leafy countryside of New England and on into Canada to stylish, sophisticated Montreal, the world's second-largest French-speaking metropolis, for a two-night stay.

Day Four

Today's included excursion is to charming Quebec City, North America's only walled settlement. Enjoy an optional tour in the company of a local guide upon arrival and explore the narrow, cobbled alleyways of endlessly enthralling Vieux-Quebec. Exuding charm from every pore, Quebec City is sure to prove one of the highlights of the entire holiday, before you return to Montreal for a second evening.

Day Five

Enjoy a short orientation tour of Montreal, before taking your leave of the city and heading along the 'Maple Leaf Trail' to enjoy an overnight stay in romantic Ottawa, Canada's beautiful administrative capital, with its Victorian houses and famous Rideau Canal.

Day Six

The Canadian capital is brought to life this morning on a guided tour, before you board the coach once more to journey on to glittering Toronto, with its sky-piercing CN Tower, countless cafes and restaurants and its ultramodern shopping malls.

Spend the evening and stay overnight in this engaging place.

Day Seven

This morning, explore Toronto at your leisure, or join the optional guided tour, which will bring to life the sights and sounds of the historic city, with its distinct neighbourhoods - including Chinatown, Greektown, and Little Italy.

This afternoon, journey around the shore of Lake Ontario, to spend two nights close to the mighty Niagara Falls, one of nature's most eye-popping wonders.

Day Eight

Spend the morning in awestruck wonder as you visit the falls, which plunge over the famous precipices in a cacophony of noise and a permanent misty spray. Heard and seen for miles around, they are truly one of nature's greatest sights. Take an optional helicopter flight for a bird's eye view of the tumult, perhaps enjoy lunch in a restaurant overlooking the falls, and enjoy a second relaxed evening in the resort.

Day Nine

Today you'll make the short journey across the bridge connecting Canada with the USA, passing the American Falls, and will make the journey east and south through Upper New York State and into Pennsylvania to spend the next two nights in New Jersey, just across the Hudson River from extraordinary New York City.

Day 10

Board the coach and head into the heart of New York. Explore on your own, or more likely join the optional tour of the 'City that Never Sleeps'. Marvel at the famous sights and enjoy a visit to the 70th-floor 'Top of the Rock' at the Rockefeller Center, from where the whole of Manhattan and beyond can be viewed. Discover your own slice of the 'Big Apple' before returning to New Jersey at the end of a wonderful day.

Day 11

Heading south, this morning you'll visit the original US capital, Philadelphia, where the Declaration of Independence was prepared and - after the tolling of the Liberty Bell - first read to the nation in July 1776. Enjoy our guided city tour, which will bring to life the colourful story of America's birth, before continuing on to spend a final two nights close to Washington DC.

Day 12

Enjoy a full day in the 'Nation's Capital', which will be brought to life on the optional guided city tour. See the giant domed Capitol building on 'the Hill', the Washington Monument, the Lincoln Memorial, Vietnam Veterans' Memorial, the Smithsonian museums and - across the green swathe of the Ellipse, at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue - the White House itself. Across the Potomac lie Arlington National Cemetery and the hulking Pentagon.

Day 13

A last free morning brings opportunities for rest and relaxation, and perhaps a little shopping, before this afternoon you transfer to the airport for your return overnight flight.

Passports and visas

When travelling to the USA, British citizens require passports with an integrated chip (shown on the front by a small rectangular symbol beneath the word PASSPORT), valid beyond the return date from the USA. Visas are not normally required for entry, but visitors must apply for an ESTA online with US Immigration at least 72 hours before departure at . The current charge is $14 for British Citizens. British subjects and anyone who has a criminal record or has ever been arrested should consult the US Embassy as a visa may be required. Note too that if you have visited Iran, Iraq, Sudan or Syria since March 2011, or have dual nationality with any of these countries, you do require a US visa and cannot travel on the Visa Waiver Program.

Border crossing

Please note there is a US$6 per person charge to cross the border from Canada to the USA. This is payable in cash at the border crossing and is not included in the tour price.

On your flight

All outbound flights depart and arrive on the same day. All return flights leave in the evening and land in the UK the next day. On-board meals will usually include lunch and a snack on outward flights, and dinner and breakfast on the flight home. Soft drinks are complimentary, but some airlines will charge for alcoholic drinks.

Luggage allowance

You are permitted to take one suitcase per person on the aircraft, which should not exceed 23kg.

Smoking is not permitted on any coach forming part of your holiday, though regular stops will be made for your comfort en route. The majority of hotels in North America are non-smoking throughout, including in all bedrooms. In general smoking outside is acceptable, but do look out for signs prohibiting this close to public entrances or bus stops. Smoking is prohibited, except in designated spaces both indoors and on deck, when on your cruise.

Gratuities are a way of life in North America, and it is generally accepted that they form part of a person's earnings. The customary gratuity for a coach driver or Tour Manager is about $5 per person per day. It is normal to tip 15-20 per cent of the bill for a taxi or in a restaurant, and to leave a dollar or so per drink in a bar.

Special requirements

If you have notified us of any special requirements, please check that they have been noted and acknowledged. This is especially important with any dietary needs you may have.

Disabled access

The majority of our tours involve a certain amount of walking, including a short walk from the coach stop to the town, attraction or venue you're visiting. If you are bringing a wheelchair, please let us know at the time of booking so that appropriate arrangements can be made.

Itinerary changes

Occasionally, for operational reasons, we may have to change the order of the excursions on your holiday. The final day-by-day itinerary will be confirmed on your Final Travel Documents, which you will receive approximately three weeks prior to your departure.

Changes to your hotels

Should circumstances require, we reserve the right to accommodate you in alternative hotels, of a similar standard, nearby. Full details of your hotels will be sent with your Final Travel Documents.

Hotel rooms

Standard hotel rooms in North America will contain one or two double- or queen-sized beds, and it is not possible to add extra beds to the room. Parties consisting of more than two travellers, but who have only booked one room, will be expected to make use of the two beds provided. If this is a concern, you may wish to consider booking more than one room for your group.

*Low deposit of £49 per person applies to new bookings made between 21st June and 31st July 2017 (inclusive) only. This offer only applies to selected air-inclusive holidays. This offer is subject to availability and may be withdrawn at any time.

East Cowes Couple
We are very used to seeing lots of places in a short space of time but this tour was much too hectic. Orientation tours are always good but then too much time afterwards on our own. Coach driver excellent but the tour manager was very poor, very disorganised, even the driver won't work with her again. This spoiled the holiday in a big way. In Ottawa we were dropped off at the National Museum of Art even though the rain was torrential, most of us spent the next 2 hours in the museum, we couldn't go anywhere, no allowance for this.
