Full Itinerary

Day One

Board Magellan in Newcastle today, and settle in to your cabin as she prepares to set sail.

Day Two

Today Magellan calls at the Tayside port-city of Dundee. Explore this historic city, and perhaps visit Captain Scott's Royal Research Ship Discovery - a beautifully restored example of the days when maritime adventures were less luxurious affairs.

Day Three

Spend today relaxing, and getting to know the ship, her crew and your fellow passengers.

Day Four

Cruise past stunning scenery, this morning, as Magellan heads to Ulvik. Disembark here to join an optional excursion and rejoin the ship in Eidfjord this afternoon, or stay aboard and simply soak it all in.

Day Five

The remote village of Flam is set in one of Sognefjord's most remote corners. From here, you might enjoy an unforgettable excursion, boarding the world-famous Flamsbana Mountain Railway, for the beautiful journey to Myrdal, before joining a coach to travel through yet more breathtaking scenery.

Day Six

This morning Magellan docks in Bergen. This ancient Hanseatic city of cobbled streets and medieval houses was the birthplace of composer Edvard Grieg. Visit the vibrant harbour and fish market, stroll past the wooden warehouses of Bryggen and take the Floibanen funicular to the summit of 'Mount' Floyen.

Day Seven

A final day is spent at sea, no doubt reliving the memories your cruise holiday as Magellan heads for home.

Day Eight

Bid farewell to Magellan and all your fellow travellers, today, as you disembark at the end of your cruise.

Too much time at sea and not enough time in Bergen. Could have done without going to Dundee - I can do that any time. A day going to Norway then a day coming back would have been ideal. The food was excellent in the restaurants.

The ship (Magellan) is tired, needs serious refurbishment, and in places is dirty. There were several instances of leaking ceilings in public areas and half of the 8 lifts were out of order or under permanent repair.
Service from the largely Ukrainian bar/buffet staff was always surly and often downright rude. Service from the Far Eastern staff in the Kensington Restaurant, by contrast, was excellent and well natured.
We had 3 ports of call in Norway, which were fine, but the itinerary meant that the cruining through the fjords was at night, making our views of the stunning scenery precisely nil.

THE CRUISE WAS MOST ENJOYABLE AND ALL THE STAFF WERE PLEASANT AND WILLING TO WHENEVER ASSISTANCE WAS REQUIRED. THE SCENERY AT THE PORTS OF CALL AND ESPECIALLY ON THE EXCURSIONS WAS OUTSTANDING AND AT TIMES EMOTIONALLY MOVING. OVERALL A VERY SATISFYING EXPERIENCE.
