Day One

Board the Eurostar at London's St Pancras International and depart for Lyon, where you'll change to France's highly efficient national rail network to enjoy a scenic onward journey to Annecy.

Day Two

This morning enjoy your first included tour, taking in the history, sights and sounds of beautiful Annecy, with its crystalline lake and stunning Alpine mountain backdrop.

Later in the day, discover the shops and cafes at your own pace, visit the town's Chateau - complete with museum - and explore the Museum of Alpine Miniatures or the Conservatoire d'Art et d'Histoire. Alternatively, get your camera ready and take to the water on one of the steamboats that ply routes on the lake, for astounding views of the town and its surrounds.

Day Three

Board the Mont Blanc Tramway at Le Fayet and relax as you follow one of the most scenic rail routes in the world to Nid d'Aigle. Admire the views as you traverse this pristine section of the Alps, before heading to Chamonix.

There, you'll have time to explore. Ride the historic Montenvers railway (payable locally) which carves its way through alpine forest to the edge of Mer de Glace - an enormous glacier. Alternatively, board the Aiguille de Midi cable-car, which steadily rises towards the top of Mont Blanc and a height of 3842 metres.

Day Four

Join an optional excursion to the banks of Lake Geneva, home of the maze-like Jardin des Cinq Sens (Garden for the Five Senses), and Evian-les-Bains - known the world over for its crystal clear alpine spring water. Alternatively, choose to remain in Annecy, relax by the lake and explore the town.

Day Five

This morning there's the opportunity to visit the manicured thermal spa-town of Aix-les-Bains, on the second of our optional excursions. Enjoy a guided tour of the town's elegant centre and be sure to make time to admire the views from the shores of nearby Lac du Bourget - maybe even take a dip.

Day Six

Your final day is to be one of relaxation. Choose to spend time by the lake's calm shores, people-watch in any of the town's numerous cafes, or take to the water to see the surrounds from a different perspective.

Day Seven

Enjoy a last breakfast in your hotel, before taking a short transfer to the train station to begin your journey home via the channel tunnel.
