Your Base: Italian Riviera Hotels in Alassio
Alassio's superb sandy beach is a magnet for sun-worshippers and water-sport enthusiasts, but the resort has much more to offer than that. Stroll along the seafront promenade and pier, around the shops, gelaterie and cafes of its old town, or through its delightful formal gardens and galleries. Fishing and sightseeing boat trips leave from the pier, golf is available at the nearby course. Further afield, but still within easy reach, you'll find San Remo and bustling Ventimiglia both waiting to be explored.
Those wishing to explore will have the chance to join a range of optional excursions (listed below), which will be offered on specific days during your stay. Simply select your chosen excursion(s) from the list when booking.
Explore the beautiful Ligurian coast, where elegant Santa Margherita Ligure lies at the eastern end of the Portofino headland. Spend some time exploring the resort, then perhaps take a boat trip along the coast to discover its ultra-chic neighbour Portofino, which despite the glitz and the glamour, remains one of the Mediterranean's most idyllic settings.
Travel along the breathtaking Moyenne Corniche into Monaco and on to Monte Carlo. This exclusive playground of the stars runs along the coast between the Grimaldi Forum and the Prince's Palace atop the monolithic Rocher de Monaco. Try your luck in the famous Casino, treat yourself to a drink at the elegant Hotel de Paris, or wander around the harbour admiring the luxurious yachts moored there.

Head to the Ligurian coast, and to the stunning stretch between the resort-town of Levanto and the port-city of La Spezia known as Cinque Terre (the Five Lands) after a quintet of ancient villages that is squeezed into a series of tiny coves and surrounded by vineyards. You'll enjoy scenic views of the working fishing villages, and marvel at the colourfully painted jumble of houses that can be seen adorning the cliffs.
