Full Itinerary

Day One: Embark Magellan in London Tilbury

Join Magellan in London Tilbury, and settle into your welcoming cabin.

Day Two: Amsterdam

Spend the morning in Amsterdam, where the picturesque canals and step-gabled buildings never fail to delight. Step ashore to explore this friendly city, and perhaps visit the renowned Rijksmuseum, the Anne Frank House or the Van Gogh Museum.

Days Three to Four: At sea

Two days are spent at sea, offering the chance to relax and enjoy Magellan’s many on-board amenities.

Day Five: Lisbon, Portugal

Today Magellan calls in Portuguese capital Lisbon, from where the great explorers sailed to the New World. Enjoy an optional shore excursion through the maze of narrow, hilly streets of the historic Alfamar district, a striking contrast to the modern city’s glass and steel.

Day Six: At sea

Enjoy a restful day at sea.

Day Seven: Funchal, Madeira

Magellan reaches the sun-blessed shores of sub-tropical Madeira, to call in its colourful capital, Funchal. On this lush green island the wonderful Botanical Gardens are not to be missed, nor is an exhilarating wickerwork 'toboggan' ride from Monte to Livramento.

Day Eight: Las Palmas, Gran Canaria

Arriving in the Canary Islands, Magellan calls at the great trading port of Las Palmas, gateway to Gran Canaria. Explore the bustling modern metropolis of Puerto de la Luz, or head to the palm-fringed squares of the old town, Vegueta. There will also be an optional excursion inland to take in some superb views.

Day Nine: At sea

Another day is yours to enjoy on board the ship, as the on-board festivities begin in earnest.

Day 10 (Christmas Day): At sea

Enjoy a memorable Christmas Day at sea, as Magellan sails towards the Cape Verde islands, with traditional Christmas dinner, glittering entertainment, and the Captain and crew ensuring a wonderful time is had by all.

Day 11 (Boxing Day): Mindelo, Sao Vicente, Cape Verde

The 10 volcanic isles that make up the Cape Verde archipelago are fast becoming a popular holiday haven, despite (or perhaps because of) their remote position. Enjoy Boxing Day on the island of Sao Vicente, in its pretty capital Mindelo. Spend the day exploring this colonial outpost, with its attractive houses, or perhaps take an optional shore excursion inland.

Days 12-15: At sea

Spend four days relaxing on board, as Magellan sails towards the warm waters of the Caribbean.

Days 16-17 (New Year's Eve and New Year's Day): Bridgetown, Barbados

Magellan arrives in colourful Bridgetown, Barbados, in time to see in 2019 ashore or aboard. On New Year’s Day, discover the island capital, gateway to exquisite beaches, resort hotels and exclusive shore-side restaurants.

Day 18: Mayreau, Grenadines

Spend a lazy day dipping in and out of the blue water at tiny Mayreau, with its stunning beaches. Enjoy a beach barbecue, courtesy of the ship’s chefs, or join an optional catamaran excursion to the Tobago Cays. (Are these activities definitely offered?)

Day 19: St John's, Antigua

Today Magellan arrives in Antigua, where you’ll find wonderful scenery, powder-white sandy beaches and warm azure seas. St John’s is the thriving main town, its main attractions gathered round the Redcliffe Quay. Elsewhere, the restored naval dockyard and the colonial forts of English Harbour and Shirley Heights provide interesting alternatives to the beach.

Day 20: Road Town, Tortola, British Virgin Islands

The sun-kissed beauty of the British Virgin Islands (or ’BVIs’) is yours to savour as Magellan anchors off Road Town, the historic, bustling principal town of Tortola, the largest in this exquisite group.

Day 21: La Romana, Dominican Republic

Magellan's next Caribbean stop is the Dominican beach resort of La Romana. Enjoy an optional shore excursion to visit Santa Domingo, the New World's first European colonial city and supposed burial place of Christopher Columbus.

Day 22: At sea

Enjoy another idyllic day at sea as Magellan sails towards her final Caribbean call.

Day 23: Ocho Rios, Jamaica

Enjoy a day relaxing on the delightful beaches of famous Ocho Rios, situated on Jamaica's north coast. Alternatively, join a shore excursion into the Blue Mountains, to dramatic Dunn’s River Falls or to Bob Marley's Mausoleum in the St Ann's Hills.

Day 24: At sea

Enjoy a final relaxing day at sea as Magellan approaches Mexican waters.

Day 25: Cozumel, Mexico

Magellan arrives in Cozumel, a Mexican island fringed by a beautiful coral reef. This laid back, unashamedly cool haven is famed for its excellent snorkelling and diving opportunities and its stunning marine reserve. An optional excursion from here offers the chance to visit the magnificent Mayan ruins at Chichen Itza, one of the Seven Modern Wonders of the World.

Day 26: Travel home from Cancun, Mexico

After lunch, disembark Magellan and transfer to Cancun airport for your overnight flight back to London.
