Further Information

Special requirements

If you have notified us of any special requirements, please check that they have been noted and acknowledged. This is especially important with any dietary needs you may have.

Disabled access

The majority of our tours involve a certain amount of walking, including a short walk from the coach stop to the town, attraction or venue you're visiting. If you are bringing a wheelchair, please let us know at the time of booking so that appropriate arrangements can be made.

Optional shore excursions

Optional excursions are available on all cruises, and we recommend that you book now to secure your place. If the number of bookings needed to operate any excursion is not reached, the excursion may be cancelled. In this case your payment will be refunded in full.

Cabin sizes

The majority of cabins on board are 10.5m square. Single cabins are approximately 7.7m square. (These measurements include the bathroom.) Standard Promenade cabins are 15m square and most have double beds (which do not convert to sofas), but they do not have a table or stool and will by subject to engine noise during overnight and early morning sailing.

Drinking water

The tap water on board is safe to drink, but may not be to your taste due to the purification system.

Itinerary changes

On rare occasions, the Captain may need to alter the Cruise Itinerary. If this happens, the Cruise Manager will keep passengers informed.

Pre-paid drinks package

Spend just £17.50 per person per night, and enjoy unlimited draught beer, house wine and soft drinks (including water, tea and coffee) between 10am and midnight while on board Olympia. All other drinks are not included. The drinks package must be purchased by every person occupying a particular cabin.

Where possible, non-rigid suitcases are easier to store within your cabin.

Dress code

The dress code on board and ashore is casual. After 7pm, in the lounge and restaurant, shorts are not permitted, and footwear and a shirt or T-shirt must be worn.

Tipping is not compulsory, but from experience we know that many passengers like to leave gratuities for the crew. An envelope will be left in your cabin for this purpose.

*This offer applies to new bookings made between 24th February and 14th April 2017 (inclusive) and to the cruise departing on 20th April 2017 only. Prices shown when booking do not include the discount. The discount amount will be added to your booking once the promo code has been entered and will be confirmed before purchase. Single cabin full fares will be discounted by 25 per cent when the promo code is applied. The offer may not be used in conjunction with any other offer, and may be withdrawn at any time.

Crawley, West Sussex Couple
The holiday was more than a month ago, so my detailed recollections are not the clearest. Apologies in advance for factual errors. Newmarket offer exceptional value for money, but don’t expect champagne for a beer price.
The river cruiser that Newmarket exclusively charter is “Olympia”, which is a nice enough tub but a bit elderly – built in 1984. Considering the number of fairly decrepit voyagers, Olympia’s lack of a lift is a drawback. For those of us in the 21st century, the lack of wi-fi was a pain. The cabins have these really stupid berths that staff must fold away to give two very narrow and uncomfortable perches for seating. The restaurant is good and the food is really to a pretty high standard. Newmarket’s policy of making you sit at the same place for every meal needs scrapping. The most pleasant strangers can become tedious after a few days.
The various visits and trips I would rate as follows:
1. The visit to Amsterdam was the high point of the trip. The optional canal cruise was really interesting and getting around by tram is really easy and cheap. There is a lot to see and nothing like enough time to see it.
2. Schoonhoven – delightful
3. Delft – a charming town and great pottery visit
4. Hoorn – another delightful town and the visit was too short
5. Kinderdijk – tedious and cold, with no boat or coach to escape to.
6. Rotterdam – like Milton Keynes without the charm. A complete waste of time.
7. The theoretical highlight of the trip was the visit to the Keukenhof Gardens to see the tulips. If you love your fellow man en masse , this must be great. Into a few acres are reportedly crowded 40,000 people. It was my idea of hell on earth.
I cannot now recall a single tour guide or staff member, they did not stand out in any way.
This was a curate’s egg of a holiday – parts of it were excellent. It wetted my appetite for a return to Amsterdam but I find it hard to recommend.

Ruscombe Couple
The content of the trip was excellent, however , when we got to Amsterdam the ship had been moved and we had an hours journey to reach it Neither of the two included excursions took place as advertised. Kilderjilk became a pay for trip albeit only £7 and the walk in Rotterdam just didn't take place.
The Newmarket representative was difficult to speak to and therefore of no service at all.
The places we visited were great and the food on the ship excellent.
We were considering a trip on the same ship from the 2018 Brochure but would not book for fear of getting the same representative.
