Itinerary

Day One

Fly to Amsterdam, and join Olympia in the attractive Dutch capital. Enjoy dinner and a leisurely evening on board, before the ship sets off early in the morning and out into Lake Markermeer.

Day Two

This morning is spent in Hoorn, a charming 17th-century town and former base for the Dutch East India Company. Later this morning, Olympia cruises across the inland sea for a short call in Lelystad, and an optional excursion this afternoon offers you the chance to visit Het Loo Palace, the former Dutch royal residence.

Later, Olympia heads into the Markermeer sailing towards Zaandam, where the pretty streets are lined with colourful houses and iconic windmills, once subjects of Claude Monet's paintings.

Day Three

Today's excursion is a true spectacle, as you visit the world-renowned Keukenhof Gardens. With some seven million flowers in bloom during the springtime, the ground here transforms into a dazzling sea of colour. Take a scenic boat ride (payable locally) or leisurely stroll through this floral paradise, stopping for refreshments at one of the cafes along the way.

This afternoon, re-join Olympia in Amsterdam and enjoy one final evening on board, or opt to join a cheese and wine canal cruise through the city's iconic waterways.

Day Four

Bid farewell to Olympia, and return to Amsterdam airport to catch your flight home.

Further Information

Special requirements

If you have notified us of any special requirements, please check that they have been noted and acknowledged. This is especially important with any dietary needs you may have.

Disabled access

The majority of our tours involve a certain amount of walking, including a short walk from the coach stop to the town, attraction or venue you're visiting. If you are bringing a wheelchair, please let us know at the time of booking so that appropriate arrangements can be made.

Pre-paid drinks package

Spend just £17.50 per person per night, and enjoy unlimited draught beer, house wine and soft drinks (including water, tea and coffee) between 10am and midnight while on board Olympia. All other drinks are not included. The drinks package must be purchased by every person occupying a particular cabin.

Optional shore excursions

Optional excursions are available on all cruises, and we recommend that you book now to secure your place. If the number of bookings needed to operate any excursion is not reached, the excursion may be cancelled. In this case your payment will be refunded in full.

Tipping

Tipping is not compulsory, but from experience we know that many passengers like to leave gratuities for the crew. An envelope will be left in your cabin for this purpose.

Dress code

The dress code on board and ashore is casual. After 7pm, in the lounge and restaurant, shorts are not permitted, and footwear and a shirt or T-shirt must be worn.

Luggage

Where possible, non-rigid suitcases are easier to store within your cabin.

Drinking water

The tap water on board is safe to drink, but may not be to your taste due to the purification system.

Itinerary changes

On rare occasions, the Captain may need to alter the Cruise Itinerary. If this happens, the Cruise Manager will keep passengers informed.

Cabin sizes

The majority of cabins on board are 10.5m square. Single cabins are approximately 7.7m square. (These measurements include the bathroom.) Standard Promenade cabins are 15m square and most have double beds (which do not convert to sofas), but they do not have a table or stool and will by subject to engine noise during overnight and early morning sailing.

Airport development fees

An Airport Development Fee has been introduced at a few UK Airports. You will be required to pay this charge at the following airports prior to checking in for your flight: Blackpool, Durham Tees Valley, Newquay and Norwich. The amount varies from airport to airport, but it is generally between £5 and £10 per person. Please visit the airport's website for further information.

*This offer applies to new bookings made between 24th February and 14th April 2017 (inclusive) only. Prices shown when booking do not include the discount. The discount amount will be added to your booking once the promo code has been entered and will be confirmed before purchase. Single cabin full fares will be discounted by 25 per cent when the promo code is applied. The offer may not be used in conjunction with any other offer, and may be withdrawn at any time.

Arrived at wrong destination and had to pay to get to Amsterdam on Train. Would have liked to spend a day at Het loo Palace not just a few hours. Would have been nice to have been offered refreshments on arrival even though we knew we couldn't go to our cabins until 4pm. Disappointed we didn't go to Hoorn and Enkhuizen but i know you cant help the weather.

It was a total disaster. If I had known the ship would be based in Zaandam I would not have gone on it. There is nothing to see during free time in Zandaam whereas the itenary stated we would get free time in Amsterdam. The tour manager cut every corner he could, was not customer friendly and at the end of the holiday he told everyone that they would haveto be out of their cabins by 08.30 hours and, basically do your own thing until your transport takes you to the airport, etc. In our case some 6 hours. We were ällowed" to sit in the ship lounge but there was no facilities for tea, coffee, etc. The choice we had for food was a Subway in Zandaam. The holiday was totally mis described. I have written a letter of complaint and if I do not get a satisfactory reply I will take it to Trading Standards for a case of misrepresentation

We enjoyed our first cruise on MS Olympia. The on board food was varied and terrific. Buffet breakfasts were first class as was the table service for lunch and evening meal which were excellent.
Due to adverse weather, we were disappointed not to visit Hoorn as advertised. Our visit to Lelystad was interesting with lots of two and three masted sailing ships in harbour.

Het Loo Palace was awesome in a lovely setting with a surprising museum of Royal transport through the ages housed in separate Stables building. Magnificent display of horse drawn carriages and superb cars
What a wonderful sea of colour awaited us at Keukenhof with every variety of Tulip on display. It's immense and beautiful and well worth the visit.

Well organised throughout, very friendly staff and the food was lovely, plenty of choice for breakfast and the set menus were wonderful. Pete, the cruise manager was lovely chap, very friendly and approachable.
My only disappointment of the trip was that having arrived at the boat by 1.30 pm the cabin was not ready till 4pm and the drinks package did not kick in till 5pm. I totally understand that the cabins have to be made ready from the previous trip and we were able to sit in the lounge. But I would have thought that some form of drink could be made available, possible a tea/coffee machine.
Message to Pete if possible please. We dug a special bed in the garden to plant our 3 different varieties of tulip bulbs, planted in 5 days of arriving home. We watered daily as instructed and out of the 30 bulbs planted, 18 came up - all the same - 12" delicate red. We planted 9 cream/burgundy, 10 cream/purple and 11 red/yellow - robust varieties that should have grown up to 24" tall. Rather disappointed but still a reminder of our lovely weekend away.
