Day One

Fly from your selected airport to Italy, and transfer to your hotel in Riva del Garda.

Day Two

Today's included excursion is to two wonderful Christmas markets.

At the spa town of Merano, the aroma of gluhwein and strudel, and the sounds of Christmas music fill the air. Wander between stalls laden with traditional handicrafts and regional delicacies like smoked pork, traditional country-style bread, Meraner Lebkuchenmilch and apple schnapps.

The wonderful Christmas Market on the Piazza Walther lives up to Bolzano's reputation as "the Italian capital of Christmas". Local craftsfolk ply their wares, while the foodstuffs on offer fuse the flavours of the north with the tastes of the Mediterranean south. Sample the excellent local vintages, and perhaps take back a bottle or two for your own Christmas table.

Day Three

Relax in Riva, or join our full-day optional excursion to beautiful Verona and Lake Garda. Set on the banks of the River Adige, medieval Verona's festive focal point is its traditional crib exhibition (which usually opens on 1st December, with entrance payable locally), featuring 400 displays from across the world, and the gigantic white iron 'star' that towers over the central Piazza Bra next to the ancient Roman amphitheatre.

Return to your hotel via the shoreline of Lake Garda, stopping to admire beautiful vistas of the lake from some of the most popular resorts.

Day Four

Transfer back to the airport for check-in and your flight home.

Grand Riva Hotel ★★★★

The elegant Grand Hotel enjoys a picturesque lakeside setting right in the heart of the historic centre of Riva.

Bellavista Hotel ★★★

This traditional hotel is located right on Lake Garda's shore in the centre of elegant Riva, close to all the amenities.

Further Information

Hotel transfer times

The transfer time from the airport to your hotel is approximately one hour from Verona, two hours from Bergamo and three hours from Milan.

Combining hotel transfers

We sometimes need to combine transfers to and from your hotel. We always try to keep any wait to a minimum, but you may be asked to wait at the airport for up to an hour, while other incoming flights arrive, before the transfer to your hotel. Similarly, we may need to transfer you back to the airport up to three hours before your flight home departs.

Special requirements

If you have notified us of any special requirements, please check that they have been noted and acknowledged. This is especially important with any dietary needs you may have.

Disabled access

The majority of our tours involve a certain amount of walking, including a short walk from the coach stop to the town, attraction or venue you're visiting. If you are bringing a wheelchair, please let us know at the time of booking so that appropriate arrangements can be made.

Itinerary changes

Occasionally, for operational reasons, we may have to change the order of the excursions on your holiday. The final day-by-day itinerary will be confirmed on your Final Travel Documents, which you will receive approximately three weeks prior to your departure.

Entrance fees

Since some attractions visited offer free admission to visitors at certain times of year, we do not include entrance fees. These will be payable locally where applicable. This applies to excursions that are included in the price of your holiday and to excursions booked as optional extras.

Italian hotel room tax

Some regions of Italy have introduced a room tax of between 1 € and 3 € per person per night, payable directly by the guest to the hotel on check-out. You will be advised by your Tour Manager in resort if a particular hotel is implementing this charge.

Luggage Allowance

Please note that for two people travelling together on one booking, or a single traveler, one piece of hold luggage is included. Additional hold luggage may be purchased at the time of booking at a cost of £30 per bag.

Foreign Office travel advice

Visit to find out the latest Foreign And Commonwealth Office travel advice for your holiday destination, as well as information about passports and visas.

Hotel was in perfect location, however we were treated like 2nd class citizens by the hotel and forced to sit in designated areas and tables for dinner.

Everything was very well planned and organised. The Tour Manager - Lyn was excellent and made the holiday a success for us.

The Hotel was set in a most beautiful location. However I feel the holiday should be advertised as Bed&Breakfast not Half Board as the evening meals were of extremely poor quality and not cooked properly and even though dietary requirements had been expressed the staff were not prepared for this and seating arrangements had not been organised for the 'Newmarket' group and we found ourselves being moved twice by the staff. On the first evening there was a great lack of food in the buffet bar nothing was being replenished and so we had to ask for more food and a complaint was made to the member of staff on duty at reception.

Nevertheless everything else was extremely well organised and the optional excursions were very enjoyable.

This was an excellent introduction to the area. The restaurant staff were both kind and attentive although reception staff were mainly notable by their absence. Our tour guide was absolutely outstanding, I have been on similar trips but she was head and shoulders above them in her manner and the quality of the information that she shared with us. The hotel information was rather limited so I feel we might have missed out on some of what was available, however, its location more than made up for that. Riva del Garda is a lovely town and we both felt very safe and secure. It was a terrific holiday.

Flights on time, transfer by minibus to hotel was uncomfortable as roof left open so very cold, hotel room was way too hot and the towel rail boiling, food was very average, particularly with no choice for desert, good tour manager who made sure we knew our way around each destination.

Nantwich Couple
The highs of the trip were the wonderful towns we visited - Riva del Garda, Venice, Verona, Merano and Balzano along with the beautiful Italian scenery, friendly locals, wine and pizza! The only real issue was the hotel, and in particular the food and service at dinner - it was woeful. It is an issue I've already taken up with the hotel but if they spent an extra euro or two on the food it would make a big difference. The two-hour transfer from Bergamo airport to Riva del Garda in the dark was boring, but the view from ur bedroom in the morning was worth it. Lynn, our guide, was excellent and the restaurant she recommended in Venice served me possibly the best pizza I've ever eaten.
