This, the last of Marco Polo’s autumn season of cruises from Rosyth, takes you across the North Sea to lively, friendly Oslo, where there’ll be a chance to go ashore, perhaps to visit the renowned Viking Ships Museum or the Kon Tiki Museum, which houses explorer Thor Heyerdahl’s fragile balsa-wood craft.
A call in Norway’s lively southernmost city, Kristiansand, with its delightful old town and harbour-front Fish Quay, is followed by a scenic cruise towards Norway’s fjord- and island-dotted west coast to the prosperous former Norwegian fishing capital, Stavanger, where you'll have time to wander its gently sloping streets and Gamle Stavanger old town. Saving the best till last, a final call is made in the unofficial capital of the fjords and the birthplace of the composer Edvard Grieg, Bergen. Explore its ancient Bryggen quarter and lively fish market, and take a trip to the summit of Mount Floyen on the funicular before Marco Polo returns to Newcastle.
