Day Eight: Santa Cruz, Tenerife

From Mount Teide's snow-capped peak to the warm seas of Playa Del Duque, Tenerife boasts a breadth of climates and ecosystems that few places its size can match. Spend your day here exploring the principal port, Santa Cruz, or discovering some of the island's natural wonders on a shore excursion.

Day Nine: Las Palmas, Gran Canaria

Our final Atlantic island call is Las Palmas, Gran Canaria's principal port. Immerse yourself in the bustle of modern Puerto de la Luz. wander the cobbled streets and palm-fringed squares of the port's old town, Vegueta, or take an excursion to see Maspalomas's vast sand dunes or explore the rugged landscape of Pico de las Nieves.

Day 10: Funchal, Madeira

Spend the final day of 2019 surrounded by the natural beauty of Madeira. This sub-tropical paradise is home to some of the most vibrant and varied plant life on Earth. Relax in the island capital, Funchal, visit the wonderful Botanical Gardens, and perhaps race downhill from Monte to Livramento in a wickerwork 'toboggan' before returning to Marco Polo to begin an evening of New Year's Eve celebrations capped by a fantastic fireworks display.

Day 11: At sea

Day 12: Lisbon, Portugal

The Portuguese capital, Lisbon, is Marco Polo's last Latin port of call.
