Full Itinerary

Day One

Board Magellan in Newcastle today, and settle in to your cabin as she prepares to set sail.

Day Two

Today Magellan calls at the Tayside port-city of Dundee. Explore this historic city, and perhaps visit Captain Scott's Royal Research Ship Discovery - a beautifully restored example of the days when maritime adventures were less luxurious affairs.

Day Three

Spend today relaxing, and getting to know the ship, her crew and your fellow passengers.

Day Four

Oslo, the Norwegian capital, welcomes Magellan today. Step ashore to find a lively, friendly city, waiting to be discovered. Head off by yourself, or join a shore excursion, perhaps to the Viking Ships museum, where a trio of ancient craft are lovingly preserved, or to the Kon-Tiki museum, where explorer Thor Heyerdahl's fragile balsa-wood craft is displayed.

Day Five

Today we'll stop in Kristiansand, Norway's fifth city, on the country's southern coast. One of Norway's most popular tourist destinations, Kristiansand is renowned for its beaches and Palmesus beach festival, its thriving creative arts scene, and as the home of Norway's largest zoo.

Day Six

This morning Magellan docks in Bergen. This ancient Hanseatic city of cobbled streets and medieval houses was the birthplace of composer Edvard Grieg. Visit the vibrant harbour and fish market, stroll past the wooden warehouses of Bryggen and take the Floibanen funicular to the summit of 'Mount' Floyen.

Day Seven

Cruise past stunning scenery, this morning, as Magellan cruises to along the length of Hardangerfjord to the waterside village of Eidfjord.

Day Eight

The remote village of Flam is set in one of Sognefjord's most remote corners. From here, you might enjoy an unforgettable excursion, boarding the world-famous Flamsbana Mountain Railway, for the beautiful journey to Myrdal, before joining a coach to travel through yet more breathtaking scenery.

Day Nine

A final day is spent at sea, no doubt reliving the memories your cruise holiday as Magellan heads for home.

Day 10

Bid farewell to Magellan and all your fellow travellers, today, as you disembark at the end of your cruise.

Cabin for 3 and drop down bed impossible for over 70s. I did ask if there was an alternative before the cruise but was told no. After struggling on the first night the cabin steward provided a bed on the floor. The Magellan is a marvellous ship and I would recommend it to anyone but wasn't happy with length of time in ports or the fact that we mostly seemed to be arriving or departing at meal times so not possible to be on deck to view the fjords etc.

My son and I loved it, we had a really enjoyable time but feel most of the other passengers were depressed by the weather which can't be helped. The food was brilliant and couldn't be nicerthe crew were fantastic. Everything worked like clock work.

The ship was very noisy - engine noise we believe making sleep spasmodic. Some booked shore excursions were overpriced or disappointing including queuing over an hour for the Bethan funicular on a 2 hour excursion missing city tour
