Brussels Flower Carpet Coach Trip Itinerary

Day One: Coach travel to Brussels

Leaving your coach pick up this morning we'll travel to the port for our channel crossing. Once in France, we continue to Brussels, arriving by the late afternoon.

Day Two: Visits to Brussels and Ghent

After an early breakfast, we'll transfer you into the centre of Brussels, where we'll head to the Grand Place to see the stunning Flower Carpet. The work of flower-growers from Ghent, the Flower Carpet is an extraordinary tapestry of brilliant begonias. To give you the best possible view of this amazing display, we have arranged 'VIP' entry to Brussels's stunning Hotel de Ville (Town Hall) - which opens its balcony especially for the event.

Afterwards, you're free to explore or join our optional walking tour of the city with a local guide. See the cheeky Manneken Pis - Brussels's most enduring symbol - and picturesque Rue des Bouchers (Butchers Street), hearing stories of the city as you wander through the Old Town's narrow streets.

In the afternoon, we'll visit the medieval city of Ghent. Take a canal cruise along the River Lys, stroll along the beautiful Graslei with its historical guild houses or enjoy the breathtaking cityscape at St Michael's bridge, before returning to your hotel in the evening.

Day Three: Included Bruges coach trip

Today we'll begin our journey home. En route we'll stop in Bruges, famous for its picturesque network of canals, fine medieval architecture and magnificent town square. After time to explore, and perhaps join our optional cruise on the canals of this 'Venice of the North', we'll continue home via Calais, arriving back at your original pick-up point by the mid-to-late evening.

Further Information

Coach seating arrangements

Your Tour Manager will have allocated seats for you on the main coach in advance, taking into consideration any special requests wherever possible, and will advise you where to sit as you board the coach. This will be your seat for the duration of the tour. (Seats are not allocated on any connecting services to and from the main coach.)

Joining your holiday

Your final travel documents, including the exact time and place of departure, will be sent to you approximately 10 days prior to departure, providing all payments have been made. We are unable to give exact departure times before this.

Meal arrangements

Where meals are not included, your Tour Manager will ensure there are suitable stops made for you to purchase and enjoy lunch and/or dinner each day.

Special requirements

If you have notified us of any special requirements, please check that they have been noted and acknowledged. This is especially important with any dietary needs you may have.

Disabled access

The majority of our tours involve a certain amount of walking, including a short walk from the coach stop to the town, attraction or venue you're visiting. If you are bringing a wheelchair, please let us know at the time of booking so that appropriate arrangements can be made. Please also note that the medieval architecture of the Brussels Hotel de Ville means that it is not accessible in a wheelchair.

Triple rooms

The majority of these consist of a double bed and an extra bed that is often only suitable for children. If this is a concern, you may wish to consider booking more than one room for your group.

Channel crossings

Where possible, we will cross the Channel by ferry at the beginning and end of your holiday. However, we reserve the right to substitute crossings by Eurotunnel when necessary.

Having the day in Brussels was delightful. But it was a long time getting to the hotel--10pm+ and then an early start next morning.I think that the trip was ? overambitious -as would have liked more time in Bruges.I am glad that we went as we now have an idea of the travel involved but probably a 3 night stay would have been preferable.
Also our hotel -in contrast to the others on the same trip but in different coaches --wasn't a relaxing place --staff kind yes --but rooms very small/compact unlike those at the Crown Plaza------so we felt like the poor relations?! I know that you offer flights in other holidays and seeing we were nearby the airport I wondered why not on this break?

The flower carpet was wonderful & well worth the trip. The hotel was satisfactory with a good selection for breakfast. The room was far better than the Holiday Inn at Middlesborough which was such a disappointment. The only annoyance was the bathroom. The bath was narrow & no hand rails. Made it awkward to get out. If the bath had been slightly wider there would not have been a problem as I could have turned over onto hands & knees but it was too narrow to do this easily. The trip to Ghent was really a bit too long. Especially as it was very hot. The tour manager was not as well briefed as some of your other tour managers as to Bruge. I have been to Bruge with other tour managers & she missed out things of interest which in my opinion she should have included. She did however get us on the earlier boat trip which gave us longer in the town. By and large the trip was satisfactory.

Middlesbrough Family
The tour guide Cathy Doherty was rude, condescending and patronising. She spoilt he experience for the 4 of us. She interrupted people and was.very unhelpful she was also displaying very personal and at time racist comments. She asked everyone if they held British passports but singled oit an Asian family and asked them directly. She continued to call the people of Belgium and impart her views of Brexit and how Brussels would be nothing without british money. The worst thing in my opinion is when she said it is always "the chinese.and.asians being everywhere with their selfie sticks. ". As a representative of New market holidays she shoyld be impersonal.

Ipswich Friends
Overall excellent -

bit more information for example 1st time in Brussells and there was a shortage of Public toilets - no suggestion that this would be the case and from the queue outside on of the few avaialble it would seem a general conscensus that British tourists were not aware - and that using Cafes and bars would be OK?

Brussels was on the whole a little dissapointing and slightly scruffy.

Staff in the shops were lovely and friemdly.

Information about the the Bus tour of Brussels and stops would have been useful - 1/2 a day in Brussels and the tour would have been a good thing to do.

The carpet was lovely and the inside of the Town Hall beautiful.

Afternoon in Ghent - WOW beautiful and elegent city - perfect.

-Would have been good to know timings in advance rather than feel we were '''stuck'' in Brussels from 11 til7 and were expected to have eaten by then on Saturday.
-Complete mess up /incompetence on the part of Carla the tour manager re:
1 tickets for canal boat ride in Bruges and
2 incorrect guidance re when to eat on Sunday as a result of loosing, for 45 mins, two elderly ladies in Bruges which could have been avoided with more care from Carla.
Apart from that the driver was superb as was the mini bus driver who took us to and from the Swindon and the pick up point.

I found that the seats on the coach were not very comfy for the time spent on coach. Otherwise the trip was a resounding success.
