Celebrate the arrival of 2022 on Aphrodite’s sun-kissed isle, where you can expect the warmest of welcomes and a memorable stay.
Based in a choice of hotels in – or close to – the historic resort town of Paphos, this is the chance to enjoy a little winter sunshine, some fascinating included and optional tours, and a memorable New Year’s Eve with new-found friends in your chosen hotel.
View a full breakdown of your holiday to help you plan your trip
Meet your tour manager and transfer to your chosen hotel in the island’s southwest corner.
Explore Paphos – the island's ancient capital – on today's included guided tour. Discover how ancient Cypriot burial practices are refining our understanding of ancient chronology at the Tombs of the Kings, see the famous Paphos Mosaics housed in ancient Roman villas, and visit the ninth-century church of Agia Paraskevi. This tour will bring to life delightful Paphos, which with its decorated trees and festive lights, looks a picture throughout the festive season.
Today’s optional tour heads first along the coast to Aphrodite’s Rock, where the goddess is said to have risen from the waves. Head on to ancient Curium, with its magnificent Greco-Roman theatre before discovering Cyprus’ bustling second city Limassol. With some fascinating sights, excellent shopping, and a compact Old City, this fascinating place is also centre of the Cypriot wine industry.
Today is free to rest and relax in the hotel and its surroundings before you begin your New Year celebrations with tonight’s Gala Dinner, and at midnight, head outside to see fireworks in the night sky.
The New Year's Day included excursion takes us into the centre of Cyprus and up into the Troodos Mountains. Nestled among the peaks lie hidden Byzantine churches, the burial place of Cyprus' first president and even an ancient monastery.
Today brings the opportunity to visit beautiful Northern Cyprus on an optional excursion. Discover a stunning landscape where mountains and ancient villages drift down to a tranquil coastline, and visit Gothic Bellapais Abbey (made famous by author Lawrence Durrell) and the coastal port-town of Kyrenia.
You'll also visit Nicosia, the island capital for more than 12 centuries. Divided in 1974 by the 'Green Line' separating Greek and Turkish Cypriot territories, the city is both a bustling metropolis with a sophisticated cafe culture, and a fascinating gateway to the island's turbulent past.
Rest and relax as you enjoy your final full day in Cyprus, perhaps making use of the hotel’s excellent facilities, or by continuing your exploration of Paphos under your own steam.
Bid farewell to your hosts, today, and board our coach for the transfer back to the airport, where you'll check in for your flight home.

Rules may have changed since you last travelled to European Union countries and Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway and Switzerland. The following are useful guidelines which will help you prepare for your next adventure. Note that these new rules do NOT apply when travelling within the United Kingdom or to the Channel Islands, the Isle of Man or the Republic of Ireland. You do require government issued ID when travelling by air though.
Your passport must meet two requirements to travel to an EU country and to Switzerland, Norway, Iceland and Liechtenstein. It must be:
These rules do not apply to travel to Ireland where you can continue to use your passport as long as it’s valid for the length of your stay.
If you’re a tourist, you do not need a visa for short trips to most EU countries, Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway and Switzerland. You’ll be able to stay for up to 90 days in any rolling 180-day period. Different rules will apply to Bulgaria, Croatia, Cyprus and Romania; if you visit these countries, visits to other EU countries will not count towards the 90-day total. Travel to Ireland will not change and stays there will not count towards the 90-day total.
Towards the end of 2022, it is likely that non EU citizens will be required to apply online for an authorisation to visit most European countries. The current details suggest there will be a charge of €7 per person and the authorisation will be valid for all trips made to the EU in a three year period from issue. We will advise you of confirmed details prior to your tour’s departure.
At border control, you may need to show proof of your return journey - your travel documentation issued by us will be sufficient for this. You will also need to use separate lanes from EU, EEA and Swiss citizens if manual checks are required.
You should always get appropriate travel insurance with healthcare cover before you go abroad which covers pre-existing conditions. You should understand the terms and conditions of your travel insurance and be happy with its cover for healthcare and travel disruption. Newmarket sell a comprehensive travel insurance policy. Ask our travel consultants for more information.
You should also apply for a UK Global Heath Insurance Card (GHIC) which lets you get urgent state healthcare in Europe at a reduced cost or sometimes for free. Note GHIC is only valid in EU countries and not in Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway and Switzerland.
Roaming charges are applied by some UK providers when visiting the EU, Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway and Switzerland. Prior to travel, please do check with your phone operator for the most up to date information.
