Day One: Depart from Poole
Board Astoria in Poole, settle into your cabin and enjoy your first dinner on board.
Day Two: Dunkirk
Astoria's first stop is at the French port of Dunkirk. Step ashore to discover this historic city, which will forever be associated with the amazing 1940 rescue of the British Expeditionary Forces.
Day Three: At sea
Relax on board the ship as Astoria steams towards Scotland.
Day Four: Invergordon
This morning we’ll tie up in the great natural harbour at Invergordon on Scotland’s rugged east coast. From here you can join a shore excursion, perhaps to Inverness in search of Nessie. Golfers may head to the fine course at nearby Dornoch, while whisky connoisseurs can make a pilgrimage to the celebrated Ord Distillery.
Day Five: Lerwick
Lerwick, the Shetland Islands’ rugged capital, is a gateway to an ancient land of legend, traditional crafts and an incredible abundance of birdlife. Discover the town, or join the excursion to the 3000 year-old archaeological site at Jarlshof, with its Bronze and Iron Age remains.
Day Six: Kirkwall
Discover the historic capital of Orkney as the ship docks in Kirkwall. Perhaps visit its magnificent centrepiece, St Magnus Cathedral, or join a shore excursion to discover the highlights of the island’s unique mix of history, archaeology, crafts and wildlife.
Day Seven: Stornoway
Today you’ll anchor off Stornoway, capital of Lewis, in the Outer Hebrides. Beautiful and unspoiled, these ancient islands have been inhabited for over 6000 years. Wander through the town, or take the excursion to Callanish’s famous Standing Stones, thought to be nearly 4000 years old.
Day Eight: Oban
Our final Scottish call is at Victorian Oban. Take a shore excursion this morning, perhaps to one of a host of nearby whisky distilleries, before setting sail for Irish waters in the afternoon.
Day Nine: Dublin
Crossing the Irish Sea, Astoria slips outside British waters to visit Dublin, today. The Irish capital has been a thriving cultural centre for centuries. Join the shoppers on Grafton and O’Connell Streets, visit historic Trinity College or head to one of the many cafes, coffee shops, bars and pubs to soak up the local colour.
Day 10: Cobh
Arrive at the port-resort of Cobh, the gateway to cork. Take the opportunity to discover this historic capital of southwest Ireland, or perhaps travel through the rolling countryside to foodie heaven Kinsale or famous Blarney Castle - home of the ’magical’ Blarney Stone.
Day 11: St Mary’s
Astoria enters glorious blue waters to take in the celebrated Isles of Scilly. Go ashore by tender to explore tiny Hugh Town on St Mary’s. There’s also the chance to take an excursion to stunning Tresco, where the world-famous Abbey Gardens house Britain’s finest collection of subtropical plants.
Day 12: Arrive back in Poole
Arrive back in Poole, bid farewell to the crew and your fellow travellers, and disembark at the end of your holiday.
Days marked above with an anchor include ports where you will be transferred to shore by landing boat. These ports may be inaccessible for customers with mobility difficulties as a result. Any days not listed will be spent at sea.
British Citizens will need a full, 10-year passport to travel on this cruise.
