Natural Wonders of the Arctic

Join Astoria for a classic autumn cruise in search of the Aurora Borealis. Call at four stunning ports along the beautiful fjord- and island-dotted coast of Western Norway, and head beyond the Arctic Circle to visit Europe’s northernmost region.

Sailing north from Hull, Astoria’s first port is Bergen, where you can head ashore to explore the historic restored warehouses of Bryggen. Spend a day in pretty Andalsnes on spectacular Romsdalfjord before cruising north, watching the skies each evening in the hope of catching sight of the bewitching phenomenon of the Northern Lights. See Tromsø’s towering cathedral, and perhaps head from the remote village of Honningsvaag to the North Cape Hall visitor centre at Nordkapp on an optional shore excursion. As Astoria begins her scenic cruise home, you’ll spend a full day in the Arctic port of Alta, which offers the opportunity to discover the unique culture and traditions of Finnmark’s Sami reindeer herders. Calls in the pretty, pastel-painted city of Alesund and prosperous former fishing capital Stavanger complete your wonderful Arctic cruise.
