Itinerary

Day One

Fly to Riga, then board our coach for the short trip into the heart of the city to your hotel. After check-in, head out to enjoy your first evening here. You'll find a host of cafes and restaurants to choose from as the lights of the shops and bars bring colour and warmth to the crisp, wintry air.

Day Two

Set on the bank of the Daugava River, Riga is a city of striking ultramodern buildings arranged around a walled, historic core.

On our guided tour you'll see the Dutch-influenced 'House of the Blackheads', Riga Castle, the towering Freedom Monument and both of the city's magnificent cathedrals. The city's Quiet Centre district boasts some of the best-preserved Art Nouveau architecture in the world, while Dome Square beside the cathedral in the old town is home to the city's second wonderful traditional Christmas market.

Day Three

Discover more of the city today, or join our first optional excursion into beautiful Gauja National Park. Here, ancient forests shelter elk, European bison and brown bears, while the Turaida Museum Reserve chronicles Latvian history and culture.

Later, join our second optional excursion and complete your visit to Riga with a trip to a traditional tavern for an evening of local food and drink, and live folk music.

Day Four

Today you'll transfer back to the airport to board your flight home.

Hotel Avalon ★★★★

This superbly appointed modern hotel, stands in the heart of Riga's Old Town - a perfect location for exploring the city.

MICHAEL

Brentwood Couple
We needed to come back a day early. When we booked we were not given the plane times (outward or return). The flight back was too late on the Sunday for us. When we checked in at the Hotel Avalon (good hotel) we informed the receptionist and the tour manager that we wouldn't be staying on the last night (Saturday). I had rung your office and ascertained that it was ok to leave earlier and was told we had to make our own flight and transfer arrangements. We had booked for the Dinner and Folk Evening but this was changed from the Friday to the Saturday so we couldn't take it, effectively removing what I had anticipated might be the highlight of the holiday. The tour manager told us we would have a refund for missing this treat. As we had also told the hotel we would only be staying for 2 days a refund is due there as well. I look forward to receiving the payments to which I feel we are entitled.

Edgware Friends
This was a fantastic trip, meet alot of interesting people on the group, as well as the Tour Manager Erika and Tour Guide Edgar whose sense of humor and interaction with the group was great. The included city tour excursion was a great way to see the city and find out about the history and culture. The optional excursion to the Gauja National Park was a great and the food we tried at the local Latvian restaurant was amazing and great value.
