Day One

Fly to Faro, meet your Tour Manager and transfer by coach to Albufeira and the hotel. Settle in, and enjoy your first evening - perhaps strolling down into town before dinner.

Day Two

Today you're free to enjoy the facilities of your hotel and its surroundings. Why not venture into nearby Albufeira, where the streets and hotels will be decorated for Christmas?

Day Three

Head east, along the coast, to the colourful fishing port of Olhao and the Algarve capital, Faro. Here you'll discover a fascinating old town of cobbled streets and hidden squares, and a colourful marina. Spend a couple of hours exploring, perhaps browsing the lively fish and fresh produce markets, and watching the locals restock their larders after the Christmas festivities, before we return to Albufeira in the evening.

Day Four

Join today's optional excursion to the beautiful Western Algarve. Here, highlights will include maritime Lagos and its walled fortifications, historic Sagres and the wild promontory of Cape St Vincent - Europe's most southwesterly point.

Day Five (Christmas Eve)

Join us on an included excursion to historic Seville, Spain's great city of flamenco. See the Giralda Tower at the city's magnificent cathedral, gaze across the pavilion-framed expanse of Plaza de Espana, and perhaps visit the Plaza de Toros - Spain's oldest bullring - before returning to the hotel to begin your Christmas celebrations.

Day Six (Christmas Day)

Enjoy a restful and relaxing Christmas Day at your hotel, the highlight of which will be a traditional Christmas dinner.

Day Seven (Boxing Day)

Today's final optional excursion takes us high into the hills above the Algarve. Stroll down Monchique's steeply cobbled streets and narrow alleyways, and perhaps catch a breathtaking glimpse of the coast on a fine day, before we continue to Silves to marvel at its Roman and Moorish remains and great cathedral.

Day Eight

Return to the airport, today, and check in for your flight back to the UK.

Cerro Mar Garden Hotel ★★★★

Set high above the old town - some 400 metres from Albufeira's main square, and 500 metres from the seafront - this warm and welcoming hotel has wonderful views from its rooftop garden. (Due to its location on the hill overlooking Albufeira, this hotel may not be suitable for anyone with walking difficulties.)

The transfer time from the airport to your hotel is approximately 45 minutes.

Combining hotel transfers

We sometimes need to combine transfers to and from your hotel. We always try to keep any wait to a minimum, but you may be asked to wait at the airport for up to an hour, while other incoming flights arrive, before the transfer to your hotel. Similarly, we may need to transfer you back to the airport up to three hours before your flight home departs.

Special requirements

If you have notified us of any special requirements, please check that they have been noted and acknowledged. This is especially important with any dietary needs you may have.

Occasionally, for operational reasons, we may have to change the order of the excursions on your holiday. The final day-by-day itinerary will be confirmed on your Final Travel Documents, which you will receive approximately three weeks prior to your departure.

Overall, extremely good value, with very well chosen hotel and helpful courier. We were offered well balanced free time and organised tours.

Lovely hotel and thr apartment was beautifull, but we are 70 plus, and it waa too hilly for us, having to walk down 90 plus steps to the town square, and to get to the beach.Paddling

I stayed at a block of appartments and had to cross a road to the main hotel complex.
Ido not think the Rep was used to the tour as she read from a travel book and was not sure if a passport was needed for Seville.

Sussex Couple
The hotel was very nice but the position up on the cliff made it difficult to pop out for a stroll on the beach. The Christmas Gala Dinner turned out to be a normal buffet with a few Christmas cakes not the sit down meal we were expecting. The trip to Seville was a highlight but we didn't have long enough there. Other trips were billed as full days but could have been half days. We paid a lot to be back at the hotel kicking our heels at 3pm. Little research was done on Christmas opening times so many of the places suggested by the guide were in fact closed. The day we went to Monchique the cloud was down on the mountain. If we had gone to Silves in the morning as per the trip guide notes and left the mountain til the afternoon there would have been a better chance to get some views. In the event the sky did clear so if we had gone later we would have had a better experience.

Totton Couple
My wife and I consider this to be a holiday for those who enjoy recognisable English (as opposed to British) food; also for those who are not looking for a resort which will celebrate Christmas in any recognisable fashion.
The accommodation (apartments) is very good, but dated. The food is also of very good quality, with different food options every day, but all meals are buffet style - even their so-called "Christmas Gala Dinner".
We encountered a couple of electrical issues when we arrived in our apartment, and reported them immediately. They were rectified almost immediately.
The staff was efficient, helpful, and friendly, and the previously reported "grumpy member of staff" turned out to be one of the night receptionists, so we didn't have cause to encounter them.
The majority of guests who were taking this holiday package were very good company, and appeared to enjoy all that was on offer (as did we).
The resort lies high above the main town of Albufeira, which means steep slopes, and a flight of 98 steps, if one is to explore the main centre and beach (it is worth it, if you are sufficiently fit).
The trips are very interesting, and the optional ones are also well worth doing. However, the Portuguese celebrate Christmas Eve, not Christmas Day, so be prepared for some places of interest to be closed. Even Aldi & Lidl close at 6pm on Christmas Eve, so buy your celebration "fizz" before then!
With the weather in the Algarve having been 14 to18 degrees in December 2017, and the South UK having been -4 to 5 degrees, where would you rather be?

It was a most welcome and enjoyable break over the Christmas period in a nice part of the world. The superb weather was key. We found the hotel very pleasant and comfortable with good customer service. The only negative for us, if it was so, was the unduly informal nature of the restaurant. We are not snobs, but it was disappointing to see that at least a smart casual dress code did not apply. Also, for a 4star the range of buffet food was rather limited. For the first time on a Newmarket trip the group were not sat anywhere near together and one evening we were put round into the breakfast area by a large family group and our meal was punctuated by people constantly walking to and fro by our table - we didn't enjoy our meal that evening.
