Day Two

Continue south, arriving to a warm welcome at your chosen hotel.

Day Three (Christmas Eve)

Take a guided tour of the exquisite, UNESCO-listed city of Salzburg. Stroll through the cobbled streets of the Altstadt, and soak up the atmosphere of the Christkindlmarkt held in the shadow of the Hohensalzburg castle and in front of the city's ancient cathedral.

With the scents of gingerbread and Gluhwein in the air, and colourful stalls laden with traditional goods, this is the perfect place to spend Christmas Eve, before you return to the hotel to begin your celebrations.

Day Four (Christmas Day)

Today you'll visit the beautiful Salzkammergut lakes region - as pretty a winter wonderland as you could expect to find. Highlights will include idyllic Mondsee, setting for the wedding scene in 'The Sound of Music', and the quaint lakeside towns of St Wolfgang - with its famous White Horse Inn - and St Gilgen, once home to Mozart's mother and sister.

You'll return to the hotel to enjoy a candlelit, four-course Christmas Dinner - a wonderful way to round off a special day.

Day Five

Today brings an opportunity to join an optional excursion into Bavaria, to the shores of the fjord-like Konigsee and the beautiful alpine resort of Berchtesgaden.

Essex Family
Our holiday was absolutely fantastic and would recommend. Hayley our courier was brilliant throughout and took the time to get to know everyone on the coach. Only downside was DVD player on the coach wasn't working and would have been useful to have watched some films to break up the long journey. Hotel in Germany was good for an overnight stay but our hotel in Austria was wonderful. The staff and couple who own the hotel were very friendly and made us feel very welcome. We would definitely do this trip again.

Certain aspects of the holiday were fine. The comfort breaks, however were designed around the need for driver change-overs rather than the needs of older people and there was some desperation after 4 hours to use the toilets.
The outings to Koningsee and Berctesgarten were a failure for the following reasons, Apart from a 30 minute boat trip, there was nothing to see or do. All the shops were closed , and we were dumped in this village for 2 1/2 hours followed by the same experience in Berctesgarten for another 2 hours 10 minutes after leaving Koningsee Truly dire!!!

Coach was dirty could not see any scenery as windows were filthy, no water on coach either for the toilets or hot drinks.
Took a roundabout way to get to our overnight stay, and the journey the following day took 10 and half hours when we were told it should take about 7 hours (this was achieved on the return) we felt that both drivers were more interested in their cigarette breaks than the consideration of the passengers.
We felt that the reason the journeys took longer than necessary was that Newmarket did not want to pay the tolls on the french motorways, which would have made the jouney a lot quicker to our overnight stay and our onward journey,
