Full Itinerary

Day One

Board Magellan in Newcastle today, and settle in to your cabin as she prepares to set sail.

Day Two

Today Magellan calls at the Tayside port-city of Dundee. Explore this historic city, and perhaps visit Captain Scott's Royal Research Ship Discovery - a beautifully restored example of the days when maritime adventures were less luxurious affairs.

Day Three

Spend today relaxing, and getting to know the ship, her crew and your fellow passengers.

Day Four

Stylish Copenhagen, home to the famous Tivoli Gardens and forever associated with Hans Christian Andersen, is a marvellous city. Join the optional shore excursion to discover the world famous Little Mermaid, the Royal Palace and the grand stores that line the Stroget.

Day Five

This morning Magellan arrives in Warnemund. Discover the port's charming gabled houses and historic Neuer Markt, or join the optional excursion to Berlin to discover the city's highlights - from the Brandenburg Gate and the 1926 Olympic Stadium to Hitler's Bunker and Checkpoint Charlie.

Day Six

Relax on board as Magellan spends another day at sea.

Day Seven

Today we'll arrive in beautiful Tallinn. Step back in time as you explore the enchanting Estonian capital with its perfectly preserved old town, winding cobblestone streets full of storybook houses, steepled churches and ancient buildings, all watched over by Toompea Castle.

Days Eight and Nine

Magellan will spend two days in St Petersburg, one of the world's most glorious cities. Explore its incomparable Hermitage Museum, stroll down its wide canal-side boulevards, and soak up the modern 'European' atmosphere. You'll have the chance to explore the city's Haymarket, familiar from scenes in Dostoyevsky's novels, to gaze in awe at the opulence of the Mariinsky Theatre, home to the world-renowned Kirov Ballet, and to visit the famous Summer Palace at Petrodvorets.

Day 10

Step ashore to explore Helsinki, Finland's elegant capital. Explore the harbour-side fish market, take a stroll in nearby Esplanade Park, and don't miss the monumental neo-Classical buildings of stunning Senate Square, which have played the part of Moscow in many Cold War movies.

Day 11

This morning, Magellan passes through the many islands surrounding the Swedish capital, Stockholm. This 'island city' offers a wonderful mix of historic sights and lovely parks, and is best explored on foot - particularly its ancient heart, Gamla Stan, a labyrinth of cobbled streets lined with shops, cafes and restaurants.

Day 12

Relax on board as Magellan spends another day at sea.

Day 13

Our final Danish port is Aalborg. Explore the old town's 17th-century castle and painted buildings, or join an optional excursion to the Viking burial site at Lindholm Hoje. Aalborg is also the home of Aquavit, and a visit to the distillery and museum provides another enjoyable diversion.

Day 14

A final day is spent at sea, no doubt reliving the memories your cruise holiday as Magellan heads for home.

Day 15

Bid farewell to Magellan and all your fellow travellers, today, as you disembark at the end of your cruise.

Excellent tours and ports of call. Staff and over all service very good. However one set of lifts did not work throughout the cruise, which sometimes caused problems. Food was excellent and eating in the Waldorf was a pleasure. However our cabin had to be changed due to the deafening noise coming from the engine. Be careful which cabin you choose, dont have one which is over the engine bay, sleeping was impossible. We have contacted Newmarket holidays and are awaiting a reply from them.
