Newport, Rhode Island has long been a haven for many of North America's most affluent families - the Kennedy's even had their wedding here.

Along with the beautiful architecture, another big draw to Newport is the maritime scene. An important hub for yachters from across the United States and the world, Newport harbour is forever laden with luxury boats, as well as restaurants serving up fresh seafood. The town is happily walkable, making it easy to enjoy a stroll around its historic landmarks or perhaps the chic boutiques that line Thames Street. Pay a visit to Fort Adams State Park to view Fort Adams, a large coastal fort that was built between 1824 and 1857. Having been out of operation since the mid-20th century, the site now offers guided tours to curious tourists.

Having been built in 1763, the Touro Synagogue is one of the oldest structures in Newport town and one of North America's oldest synagogues. Inside hangs a letter written by former president George Washington.
