From traditional tapas bars to the most impressive landmarks, find out what our Assistant Sales Manager, Mel, made of majestic Andalucía and the Costa del Sol.

While it’s already been a popular choice among holidaymakers for decades, Spain’s south coast is home to more than just sun-soaked beaches. Boasting a rich local culture, Moorish treasures, and a world-renowned culinary scene, there’s a lot to love about southern Spain.

Our Assistant Sales Manager, Mel, recently took a trip with us to experience the best of this exquisite region on our Premier Collection tour, Majestic Cities of Andalucía. From her personal highlights to the hotels that exceeded her expectations, here’s what Mel had to say about her time in Spain.

What was a wish-list moment of your trip?

It definitely has to be exploring the Alhambra – absolutely incredible!

How did this trip change the way you see the destination?

I’d like to return to Seville – it’s such a lovely city, and there’s so much more to explore.

Was there an unexpected experience that turned out to be a highlight of the trip?

We got quite lucky as the weather was exceptional. A change to the Seville hotel was a nice surprise for the whole group.

Who do you think would absolutely love this destination, and why?

Everyone – I really think this part of Spain has something for everyone.

Did any of the hotels or experiences stand out?

I loved the Barceló Carmen’s facilities, and its location in the heart of Granada was second to none.

What local dishes or culinary moments wowed you the most?

I love tapas, and the traditional plates in Seville were some of the best I’ve tasted.

What cultural traditions or local encounters added something special to your journey?

Our tour manager’s local knowledge and personalised tips were great.

What new insights or practical tips would you share to help others plan the perfect trip here?

I think my main points of advice would be to research the areas you’ll visit as much as possible beforehand, find some spots that you like the look of, and book online ahead of your trip. There’s plenty of time at leisure, so this’ll help you make the most of it.

If you could sum up the feeling of this place in one word, what would it be?

Majestic!

Would you go back, and if so, what would you do next time?

Yes, I’d love to spend more time exploring Seville and its lively streets!
