French Alps Holiday Itinerary
Fly to Geneva and transfer into France, heading to your hotel, where you'll be met by your Tour Manager.
Day One: Fly from the UK to Switzerland
This morning's included tour will reveal the history and landmarks of Annecy, its lakeside setting enhanced by the majestic Alpine peaks towering on its horizon. The River Thiou winds through its heart, and flowers cascade down from the terraces of quayside restaurants.
Day Two: Included tour of Annecy
Afterwards you're free to shop and explore. Visit the Observatoire des Lacs in the Chateau, the Museum of Alpine Miniatures and the Conservatoire d'Art et d'Histoire, or board one of the steamers that ply Lake Annecy for a cruise on this most picturesque of Europe's lakes.
The highlight of our holiday for many, today's included excursion takes us to Chamonix. Here you'll be free to relax, explore, or perhaps use your included Mont Blanc Multipass (which gives you unlimited access on all participating and operating cable cars and trains) to board the historic Montenvers rack railway, which makes its way through the pine forests to the edge of the vast Mer de Glace (Sea of Ice) that sweeps down the valley above the town, or even ride the Aiguille du Midi cable-car, which rises to a jaw-dropping altitude of 3,842 metres at the top station for Mont Blanc (the closest you can get to the summit without climbing), before we return to our hotel.
Day Three: Included Chamonix and Mont Blanc tour
The first of our optional excursions takes us to Lake Geneva. We'll stop in lovely Yvoire, home of the marvellous Jardin des Cinq Sens (Garden for the Five Senses), before heading to Evian-les-Bains. Now known around the world for its bottled spring water, the springs at Evian were first popularised in the early 19th Century, and rose to become one of the most exclusive summer resorts in the region - attracting Proust, the Lumiere Brothers and many more to its villas and elegant hotels.
Day Four: Optional day trip to Lake Geneva
Our second optional excursion is to the spa town of Aix-les-Bains. After a guided walk around Aix's elegant centre, you'll have time to visit the spa pump rooms, and take the waters, or admire the stunning views from the shores of nearby Lac du Bourget.
Day Five: Optional Aix-les-Bains tour
Spend your final full day in France relaxing or exploring as you see fit. Our Tour Manager will be happy to suggest things to see and places to go.
Day Six: Day at leisure
Transfer back to the airport to check-in for your flight home.
Day Seven: Fly back to the UK
