In the heart of Turkey’s Central Aegean region, right near the modern-day town of Selçuk, lies the fascinating ruins of Ephesus. This site is famed for being one of the most significant Roman, then Byzantine, cities in the Eastern Mediterranean region. The excavation tells tales of a time of rich Mediterranean trading, the spread of Christianity, and the invasions of Croesus of Lydia and Alexander the Great.

Th fascinating archaeological complex includes churches, bath-houses, fountains and temples, gymnasia, the great Roman Amphitheatre, the facade of the fabled Library of Celsus and the colonnade of the Arcadian Way.
