Day One

Leaving your pick-up point, early this morning we'll head to the historic market town of Stratford-upon-Avon. Discover its many Shakespearian associations - his Birthplace, the Royal Shakespeare Theatre and his grave at Holy Trinity Church. Explore the shops or the weekend craft market, stroll along the river, and perhaps enjoy an early evening meal before we head to our hotel.

Day Two

After breakfast we'll travel to the 'black and white' market town of Ludlow for the highlight of our weekend - the Medieval Christmas Fayre.

Behind the castle walls you'll find a festive scene that will transport you back into the Middle Ages. Jesters, minstrels, pipers and story-tellers provide entertainment for all ages. Historical re-enactments, have-a-go archery and falconry displays add to the atmosphere, and the market stalls offer up Christmas gift ideas from medieval-themed crafts to jewellery and leather goods.

Sample festive fare, and explore the winding cobbled streets of the town itself, before we begin our journey home in the mid afternoon, arriving back at your original pick-up point by mid-to-late evening.

The xmas market in Birmingham was very disappointing, very few proper xmas market stalls like those I have seen abroad. Lots of beer stalls and people there to get drunk. Ludlow Medieval Faye was much better, a very enjoyable day. It was a long trip on the coach, and not helped by a passenger who was taken ill and needed an ambulance.

Tewkesbury Couple
Had a great weekend with Newmarket, German Market and Bull Ring on the Saturday, was very busy as it was Black Friday weekend the only downfall for us was it was too long a day as we did not get the coach until 7.30 in the evening and we had finished shopping at 4.30 but due to it being busy we could not find anywhere to go to wait for the coach. We arrived at The Hotel (motel) the rooms were very nice and clean but the staff were rude and the food was awful and very expensive and breakfast was not good. But we did have a lovely day at the Medieval Castle in Ludlow it was a lot of fun with lots to see and do.

Newcastle Friends
We joined the coach in Newcastle at 6am, arriving in Birmingham at 1pm. Although we passed the time reading and chatting we did wonder whether the pick-ups/schedules could be organised differently in future to reduce the excessive travelling times for those who board first. The pick ups, stops, drop offs and hotel registrations were handled very efficiently by the tour manager and driver. The hotel itself was comfortable, but a little noisy due to inconsiderate guests. Our main complaint was that we were unable to eat in our hotel that evening because of another (Newmarket) coach tour staying there. We had no alternative but to eat at a neighbouring hotel, which served us a very poor quality and expensive meal in the noisiest location I have ever eaten in! Having got up at 4am that morning we were too tired to complain and not sure it would have made any difference. Breakfast at the hotel was fine, as was the journey to Ludlow. We thoroughly enjoyed our time in Ludlow, but would have preferred a little longer there. However, we arrived back in Newcastle at 9:15pm which was earlier than expected.

Caerphilly Couple
Generally the holiday was as I expected and there was a good contrast between the German style at B'ham and medieval at Ludlow.

The disappointing thing was the coach breaking down at the hotel which restricted the amount of time in Ludlow.
