Day One: Fly to Olbia

Fly to Olbia, where our Tour Manager will be waiting to meet you. The hotel is just a short coach ride from the airport, and, depending on your time of arrival, you'll be free to spend the rest of the day relaxing or perhaps wandering into town.

Day Two: Included excursion to the Costa Smeralda

Join us on an excursion to the Costa Smeralda, 20 kilometres of tastefully developed, reclaimed coastline that has become a playground of the wealthy. Hidden coves, offshore islets and the unusual architecture of the 'capital' Porto Cervo all add to the charm of this unique location. You'll also have free time to swim and enjoy lunch in the beautiful Baia di Sardinia.

Day Three: Visit to Alghero

A picturesque fishing port, Alghero is the Spanish-influenced main town of Sardinia's north-west coast. The cobbled streets of its Old Quarter weave past the cathedral and open onto a harbour lined with bars and restaurants while, out in the bay, the long mass of Capo Caccia lies across the water like a slumbering giant.

Day Four: Bonifacio and a train ride to the haute ville

Today we'll leave Italy behind, heading to the port of Santa Teresa di Gallura to catch the ferry to the French island of Corsica. We'll disembark in the stunning natural harbour of Bonifacio, where the tourist train will take you up to the haute ville to take in the views (or simply relax in a quayside cafe).

You'll have time for lunch in one of the many local restaurants before our coach carries you north, through the rolling green landscape, to Ajaccio and your second hotel.

Day Five: Included guided tour of Ajaccio

The capital of Corsica and the island's largest city, Ajaccio shelters at the northern end of one of the Mediterranean's most beautiful bays. It is also famous as the place where Napoleon was born in 1769. Discover its 15th-century citadel, cafes, restaurants and many monuments to the Little Emperor on a half-day guided tour then continue exploring or return to the hotel to relax.

Day Six: Relax in Ajaccio

Spend today relaxing. Head to the nearby beaches, make the most of your hotel's facilities or head back into Ajaccio to explore a little more.

Day Seven: Included west coast tour and optional cruise

Our final included excursion takes us further up Corsica's west coast to Scandola Nature Reserve and the twisting inlets and outcrops of the Calanques de Piana. Here the elements have shaped and shifted the pink granite landscape into forms that seem almost alive. We'll follow the road past Piana's pastel houses to Porto's harbour and pebble beach, and you'll have time to explore here before returning to the coach or joining an optional 90-minute cruise along the coast for the very best views.

Day Eight: Flight back to the UK

Say a fond farewell to your hotel and Corsica, this morning as we cross back to Bonifacio, take the ferry to Sardinia and wind our way back to Olbia in time to catch your flight home.

The holiday was a good insight into both Sardinia and Corsica. Bill, the tour operator, had a vast amount of historical knowledge and brought the islands to life. The hotel/apartment were located in good and interesting areas.
However, unfortunately the food, although adequate, was not to a good standard. Also my apartment in Sardinia was poor compared with most others; maybe this is what one gets when paying a single supplement! Thank goodness the weather was brilliant and the beaches near the hotel were small but beautiful, and the pool was warm.

Weymouth Couple
Very enjoyable holiday, with superb warm weather throughout, even though end of summer season. No doubt cheaper to be based in Sardinia and have a 'holiday within a holiday' in Corsica, which was the more exciting island. Meant lots of packing and unpacking though, and late change due to flight arrangements had us travelling for the day on the Friday, before we left for home on Saturday morning from Olbia airport, to get us back to the Sardinia hotel. Pleasant enough journey back but lots of coach time. Tour manager was excellent, very able and knowledgeable, fluent in both Italian and French; Corsican coach driver was very entertaining. Good insights into both island cultures.

This holiday tried to achieve too much and effectively meant we saw little of Sardinia and Corsica but spent endless hours on the coach .

I feel the holiday should have focussed on one island ( Corsica ) and maximised that perhaps train journeys to Bastia and longer in bonifacio .

Corsica is a beautiful island and certainly the coach drives illustrated this .

Many tours have a cyclical route whereas on this tour we spent endless hours retracing our steps.

As for Sardinia olbia is a poor location with very little of interest and again the trip to algehero was a lot of travelling with relatively little time at the destination.

Regarding hotels and food they were not great but acceptable .

In conclusion over the years I have done a lot of tours worldwide and I did not think this tour was good value for money bearing in mind it was just short of £2,000 for a couple , and hence would not recommend this holiday

Very nice holiday and lovely people in the group. Loved the optional boat excursion along the Calanches in Corsica. What would improve the holiday would be to arrange the return air flight from Corsica instead of having to spend a day travelling back to Sardinia for the return journey.

This mid-autumn tour of Sardinia and Corsica was a welcome addition to saying goodbye to summer and hello to winter.
