Fly to Italy, and transfer to your hotel, set within the Porta Nuova historical district of Verona.
A visit to Lake Garda will be the focus of today, as you join the coach in the company of your tour manager and head to the spa resort of Sirmione, home to healing waters and the fairy-tale Rocca Scaligera castle. You’ll board a boat for a leisurely cruise towards the Grotte di Catullo, then head northwest passing the island of Garda and the shoreside resorts of Gardone and Fasano before sailing south back to Sirmione.
After the cruise, you’ll go to Bardolino for further exploration of one of Lake Garda’s most popular resorts and return to your hotel for dinner in the evening.
This Christmas Eve you’ll explore ‘fair Verona’, the historic backdrop for the tragic tale of ‘Juliet and her Romeo’, and home to the opera season held yearly in its Roman amphitheatre. You’ll be led down the cobblestone lanes by your tour manager before heading into the welcoming warmth of a café on Piazza Bra or doing some last-minute Christmas shopping. Then it’s time to return to the hotel for dinner before the big day.
Waking up in Verona on Christmas Day will undoubtedly be incredibly special. You’ll have the morning at leisure, and in the afternoon, you’ll enjoy a festive lunch. Following this feast, you may wish to stroll through the illuminated city or along the banks of the River Adige before stopping for a hot chocolate.
After the sun has set, a celebratory dinner will be served alongside a glass of sparkling wine – the merriest way to mark this moment.
Boxing Day’s unmissable optional excursion involves travelling by train to Venice – one of the world’s most beautiful cities, perhaps even more so during the winter months. Wander through its labyrinth of alleys and waterways, passing spectacular St Mark's Square and Cathedral, the bell tower, the Doge's Palace, the Rialto Bridge, the Palace of Prisons, and the Bridge of Sighs.
You’ll be transferred back to the airport to check-in for your flight home.
