Whether you’re looking forward to your wish-list adventures in 2027 or are planning further ahead, these spots are even more special in the springtime.

Winter’s almost over, and with the arrival of spring, it’s the perfect time to set your look ahead to the travel plans yet to come in 2027 and beyond. Better yet, certain destinations take on a special kind of beauty in the springtime sun and promise a wealth of wish-list moments to enjoy ahead of the summer heat. From the African bushveld to quieter Mediterranean gems, some destinations are simply better in March.

Our team are firm believers in travelling whenever it suits you, and they’ve been thinking all about the early spring hotspots that deserve a place at the top of your travel wish-list. Whether you’re inspired to take a shorter pre-summer break next year or have decided that 2027 is the year you take the holiday you’ve always dreamt of, we have tours to suit every occasion. With that in mind, here are five global destinations that are even more memorable in the early spring.

Malta

March in Malta brings mild but sunny weather and promises an inviting atmosphere, which is perfect for exploring the island's treasures. Its wild sister isle, Gozo, is refreshed with swathes of green, and the lack of summer crowds means you can enjoy a more leisurely exploration of Malta’s museums and historical sites.

While here, be sure to explore Valletta, the island’s fortified capital, for its UNESCO-listed heritage sites and medieval architecture. Another must-see in March is Mdina, the ‘Silent City’, which is even more enchanting in the springtime sun.

Top tip – Sunglasses are a must in March since Malta still boasts ample sunshine.

Costa Rica

Marking the middle of Central America’s dry season, March can be one of the most rewarding times to explore the nature and national parks of delightful Costa Rica. With reliably clear skies, a warm Caribbean climate, and renewed jungle ecosystems, springtime breathes new life into the Costa Rican countryside.

This time of year also promises ideal conditions for discovering rainforest trails, spotting the local wildlife in the canopies, or unwinding on palm-fringed Pacific beaches. What’s more, the country’s national parks are at their most accessible, and wildlife is often easier to see around rivers and watering holes.

Top tip – Make time for different activities. Costa Rica’s Pacific beaches and colonial capital, San José, are just as impressive as the national parks.

Argentina

With the summer heat softening and the rush of the tourist season subsiding, Argentina feels more relaxed in March, making it the perfect time to explore the country’s most popular spots. Take in Buenos Aires, the elegant home of the tango, with its elegant neighbourhoods and dine al fresco amongst its lively plazas.

It’s not just the inner cities which are memorable in March, and Argentina’s natural wonders are often at their brightest and most dramatic at this time of year. In Patagonia, the glacial flows and waterfalls surge with even more vigour while the lush foliage around Iguazú Falls blossoms in the cooler temperatures. It may seem counterintuitive to us, but March is also among the best times of year to spot Argentina’s fall colours!

Top tip – Pack versatile clothing. Though the weather’s generally dry, many of Argentina’s most impressive spots are humid, and the temperatures can drop in the evening.

India

Early spring is a time of festivity in India, and there’s no better time to embrace authentic local traditions than March. Despite the warmth, exploring the Golden Triangle’s palaces, temples, and markets is still a comfortable experience, while the national parks are rife with tiger cubs and newborn creatures.

What’s more, as the cooler winter months give way to pleasant days in the sun, the likes of Holi (the festival of colours) and Diwali (the festival of lights) add extra excitement to communities across the country. Holi, in particular, is a must-see, with communities coming together in vibrant celebrations of music, laughter and brightly coloured powder.

Top tip – Bring some clothes that you don’t mind getting messy! If you take part in the country’s Holi celebrations, be prepared to be covered in colourful paints and powders.

Our recommended tour – India – Tigers & the Taj Mahal

Zimbabwe

Refreshed by the wet season and home to abundant new life, Zimbabwe is ideal with lush vegetation and dramatic skies creating a striking backdrop for adventure. It's also when the mighty Victoria Falls is at its most powerful, with thunderous flows throwing mist into the air around it.

Wildlife remains active across the country's national parks, and with fewer visitors around, safaris feel especially rewarding. From breathtaking natural wonders to remarkable wildlife encounters, March offers a wonderfully immersive way to experience Zimbabwe.

Top tip – Pack a pair of binoculars or a good-quality camera. The foliage is likely to be thicker, so be sure to take any opportunity to make the most of each wildlife sighting.
