Step aboard your cruise ship, Magellan, and settle into your welcoming cabin before the ship sails from Liverpool.
Today finds us in the great city of culture and learning, Dublin. Home to Joyce, Yeats, Wilde and Swift, birthplace of Shaw, and one of Europe's most engaging capitals, its streets teem with shoppers, and the famous bars and pubs buzz with the energy of happy locals and visitors alike.
Today is spent at sea, offering the chance to relax and enjoy the many amenities aboard your new floating home.
As Magellan reaches northern Spain she makes a call at the historic port of A Coruna, or La Coruna. Step ashore to explore the atmospheric medieval quarter, stroll the extensive seafront promenade, or perhaps take a shore excursion to fabled Santiago de Compostela.
Enjoy a restful day at sea.
Today, Magellan calls at the very British outpost of Gibraltar, beneath the mighty Rock marking the point where the Mediterranean spills out into the Atlantic Ocean. Step ashore to explore bustling Main Street, or take the cable car to the heights above, where the views stretch from the Straits to North Africa and Barbary macaques roam the path.
Relax on board as you spend another leisurely day at sea.
Our first call in the Canary Islands is Arrecife, capital of Lanzarote, the sun-baked and colourful holiday isle. Its black sand beaches fringe warm waters, and a visit here offers the chance to see the island's 'fire mountain', and perhaps even the opportunity to take a camel ride to the edge of a volcano.
Magellan ties up in the Canaries' great trading port of Las Palmas, gateway to Gran Canaria, today. Step ashore to explore the bustling metropolis of modern Puerto de la Luz, or head to the palm-fringed squares of the old town, Vegueta, and perhaps take an optional shore excursion inland for some superb views.
Today is spent on the largest of the Canary Islands, Tenerife, where Magellan will dock in the principal port of Santa Cruz. Discover the land that boasts 'the whole world in one day' - from a swim in warm waters to throwing snowballs on the slopes of Mt Teide, and from the glitz of the capital's shopping malls to stunning gardens, banana plantations, and forests of giant pines.
Some 500 miles off the coast of Africa, Madeira is one of the world's most beautiful islands. This sun-blessed subtropical paradise is home to some of the most vibrant and exotic flora on Earth. Relax in the island capital, Funchal, where you can visit the wonderful Botanical Gardens, or perhaps race downhill from Monte to Livramento in a wickerwork 'toboggan'.
Today will be spent at sea, relaxing and enjoying life on board.
Magellan's final call is the historic Portuguese capital, Lisbon, from where adventurers set out in search of the New World during the great Age of Exploration. An optional shore excursion today will introduce the city - including the Alfama district, where time seems to stand still.
Spend two days relaxing on board as Magellan makes her return journey to Liverpool.
Magellan arrives back in Liverpool at the end of a wonderful summer cruise.
All Ages Cruise
Columbus and Magellan operate primarily as child-free ships, but this is one of eight cruises that are being offered with a minimum age restriction of six months so that customers can take children and grandchildren on holiday. Please note that neither ship has child-specific facilities. Child fares start from just £99.
British Citizens will need a full, 10-year passport to travel on this cruise. Since some countries require visitors to be valid for at least six months after the return date of the cruise we recommend that all customers ensure that this is the case.
