After the tour, you'll be free to enjoy the magical Christmas Markets. In addition to the colourful market beneath the towering Rathaus (town hall) on Marienplatz you'll find Christmas markets for everyone - from the marvellous children's workshop market, and the Krippenmarkt dedicated to hand-crafted nativity scenes, to the medieval Christmas market at Odeonsplatz.

Day Three

Today's full-day included excursion travels to the beautiful Austrian city of Salzburg. Here, in Mozart's birthplace, the festive season is celebrated at a traditional Christmas market with stalls laid out in the central Cathedral Square.

While here, don't miss the chance to visit the city's castle, which towers 400 feet above the city and offers predictably wonderful views, and cathedral.

Day Four

Bid "Auf Wiedersehen" to your hotel and transfer back to Munich to board your flight home.

A very enjoyable break to Munich and Salzburg made all the more enjoyable by our travel rep. A little disappointed with our Munich bus tour as I was expecting a visit to the Olympic stadium, but we just drove past the outside of it and very little was seen of it. Nice restaurants in Roseheim, the markets shut at 8pm and then everybody seemed to disappear.

A very well organised and informative trip. My only criticism would be that the guided tour of Munich was a little too long, leaving less time for the Christmas market. Tour manager and Munich guides were very knowledgeable and informative. Use of hotel in Rosenheim provided easy access to both Munich and Salzburg, and also provided the opportunity to experience local restaurants and a smaller local Christmas market.
