Itinerary

Day One

Leaving the local area early this morning we'll travel to Yorkshire, home of Emmerdale, stopping en route for lunch (payable locally).

First broadcast in 1972, the production of Emmerdale moved to its current setting, a purpose-built set on the Harewood estate, in 1998. Today you'll explore this working TV set and 'tread the tarmac' during a fully guided tour of this popular, fictional village. See where and hear how some of the series' most iconic and memorable moments were filmed, including the chance to peek into the Vet's Surgery, Smithy Cottage and the Dingles' Garage as well as the opportunity to walk through the Parish Church.

There will be time to enjoy photo opportunities during your 90-minute walking tour, before leaving the set to arrive at your hotel in time for dinner.

Day Two

Enjoy breakfast before checking out of your hotel and heading to Esholt, the original 'Emmerdale village' used in the TV series between 1976 and 1998 until its popularity attracted so much interest that filming here became impossible. We'll stop at the famous 'Woolpack' pub where there'll be a chance to go inside and enjoy a drink (payable locally) before continuing on to Otley, known to Emmerdale fans as 'Hotton', for a short stop.

We'll arrive back at your original pick-up point in the mid to late-evening.

As the main location on this tour is outside, we strongly recommend that you wear suitable footwear and bring an umbrella.

This tour is not recommended for wheelchair users, as there is no wheelchair access to Emmerdale The Tour on Harewood estate and the Woolpack is based on a steep hill.

Further Information

Saturday departures

Saturday departures follow a reversed itinerary - visiting Esholt and Otley on day one and Emmerdale The Tour on Day Two.

Coach seating arrangements

Your seats on the main coach will be allocated for you in advance, taking into consideration any special requests wherever possible. Your Tour Manager or driver will advise you where to sit as you board the coach. This will be your seat for the duration of the tour. (Seats are not allocated on any connecting services to and from the main coach.)

Joining your holiday

Your final travel documents, including the exact time and place of departure, will be sent to you approximately 10 days prior to departure, providing all payments have been made. We are unable to give exact departure times before this.

Meal arrangements

Where meals are not included, your Tour Manager will ensure there are suitable stops made for you to purchase and enjoy lunch and/or dinner each day.

Special requirements

If you have notified us of any special requirements, please check that they have been noted and acknowledged. This is especially important with any dietary needs you may have.

Disabled access

This tour is not recommended for wheelchair users as there is no wheelchair access to the Emmerdale filming location on the Harewood Estate (due to location and terrain), and there is a steep hill in the village of Esholt between the coach drop-off point and the 'Woolpack'.

Site access

Access to the live outdoor Emmerdale filming site is subject to planning permission. ITV reserves the right to cancel access to the live filming set at any time in the unlikely event that pre-scheduled filming overruns.

A lovely break. Only one problem the evening meal at the hotel was quite the worst meal we have ever had. The food when it eventually was served was cold. The service was so slow it was nearly 9 o'clock when we left the restaurant although we had made our choices before we went in to eat at 7 o'clock. They did make up for it at breakfast as that was excellent.

The only problems we had was the Coach was far to hot, the drivers answer was to put the cold air from the top then we had roasted legs and frozen heads.
And the Courier recommended a place to Eat and we found them rude and unhelpful, maybe she could recommend the one down the road, as we found that 1st class.
