Step aboard your cruise ship, Magellan, and settle into your welcoming cabin before the ship sails from London Tilbury.
Your first port of call is a visit to friendly Amsterdam, with its canals, step-gabled buildings and fascinating museums.
Three days are spent at sea, offering the chance to relax and enjoy the many amenities aboard your new floating home.
Days Three to Five
This morning, Magellan arrives at the tiny British territory of Gibraltar. Explore the very British Main Street, and ride the cable car to the summit of the famous Rock. Take in the tremendous views out to Morocco's Atlas Mountains and meet the famously mischievous Barbary Apes.
Enjoy a restful day at sea.
Today Magellan ties up in the Canaries' great trading port of Las Palmas, gateway to Gran Canaria. Step ashore to explore the bustling metropolis of modern Puerto de la Luz, or head to the palm-fringed squares of the old town, Vegueta, and perhaps take a shore excursion inland for some superb views.
Our next Canaries' calls is Arrecife, capital of Lanzarote, sun-baked and colourful holiday isle. Its black sand beaches fringe warm waters, and a visit here offers the chance to head to 'fire mountain' and the opportunity to take a camel ride to the edge of a volcano!
Today is spent on the largest of the Canary Islands, Tenerife. Magellan will dock in the principal port of Santa Cruz.
Optional excursions will let you discover the land that boasts 'the whole world in one day' - from a swim in warm waters to throwing snowballs on the slopes of Mt Teide, and from the glitz of the capital's shopping malls to stunning gardens, banana plantations, forests of giant pines and eucalyptus trees.
Some 500 miles off the coast of Africa, Madeira is one of the world's most beautiful islands. This sun-blessed subtropical paradise is home to some of the most vibrant and exotic flora on Earth. Relax in the island capital, Funchal, visit the wonderful Botanical Gardens, and perhaps race downhill from Monte to Livramento in a wickerwork 'toboggan'!
Another day is spent at sea.
Magellan calls at the historic Portuguese capital Lisbon, from where adventurers set out in search of the New World during the great Age of Exploration. A shore excursion today will introduce the city - including the Alfama district, where time seems to stand still.
Relax aboard ship as you spend leisurely days at sea.
Magellan arrives back in Tilbury at the end of a wonderful cruise.
