Spend a wonderful spring aboard gleaming A-ROSA FLORA as she calls at some of the Rhine’s finest ports of call. Cruise south from Cologne, with its soaring Gothic cathedral, to celebrated wine town Rüdesheim, home to one of Germany’s most picturesque streets: the narrow, tavern-lined-Drosselgasse. After a delightful morning exploring, continue to historic Mainz, capital of the Rhineland-Palatinate and the hometown of Johannes Gutenburg, the father of the printing press. Discover this once-hugely powerful city, taking in the six-towered cathedral, Gutenberg Museum and its delightful Altstadt of half-timbered houses, on an included walking tour.
Turn from the Rhine into one of its many tributaries, the Main, and continue to Frankfurt, where the glittering, modern city and the apple-wine taverns of historic Sachenhausen provide contrasting delights. Return to the Rhine, and sail through the Rhine Gorge, beneath the legendary Lorelei and past idyllic towns and villages flanked by ripening vineyards. Make a final call at Koblenz, beneath its imposing castle, before returning to Cologne.

Travel to Cologne, and board your sleek A-ROSA vessel at the quayside. Perhaps take a stroll through the city’s famous Altstadt beneath the great, twin-spired cathedral, before the ship sails in the early evening. Settle into your comfortable cabin, enjoy a drink in the bar or a stroll on top deck as the ship begins her journey. Dine when you wish at the gourmet buffet on board, and perhaps enjoy a nightcap before turning in.
This morning you’ll arrive in Rüdesheim, the most celebrated of the Rhine's wine towns. Explore the narrow streets, the most celebrated of which is the Drosselgasse, lined with bars and weinstuben (little, traditional wine taverns). Why not join an optional shore excursion, either for a sightseeing tour by train and foot or a vineyard visit and wine-tasting?
After a relaxed lunch on-board ship, you’ll arrive in the picturesque Rhineland city of Mainz during the mid-afternoon. Step ashore to discover this historic city on an included walking tour. Later, dine on board, or spend a couple of enjoyable hours ashore in the city’s colourful Altstadt before you sail on in the late evening.
Overnight your ship will have slipped into the River Main, tying up beneath the glittering ’Mainhattan’ skyline of Frankfurt. Step ashore to explore or to join an optional shore excursion. Why not visit one of the city’s many outstanding museums, or take a ride up to the observation deck of the blue-glass Maintower for the stunning views?
North of the river is Frankfurt's historic Altstadt, centred on Römerberg Square and surrounded by the remnants of ancient fortifications. South of the river, the delightful lanes of Sachsenhausen are home to countless cafés and bars where you can end your day relaxing over a glass of sharp local cider, before your ship sails late in the evening.
An unforgettable day awaits as you awake this morning to find yourself sailing through the heart of the Middle Rhine. You'll pass through the narrow gorge beneath the Lorelei, the steep slate rock from which sirens were said to have lured sailors to their fates, and cruise past vineyards and ancient villages like Sankt Goar and Bad Salzig.
After lunch, you’ll tie up in Koblenz, which sits spectacularly at the meeting point of the Rhine and Moselle. A strategic stronghold for over 2,000 years, Koblenz is dominated by the imposing mass of the mighty Ehrenbreitstein fortress on the far bank. Step ashore, where you’ll have the choice of several optional exciting excursions, or simply stroll along the riverside promenade to Deutsches Eck, where the rivers converge, or take a seat in a café or weinstube.
Later, enjoy a last evening on board before your ship slips back out into the river and cruises downstream to Cologne.
Now back in Cologne, bid a fond farewell to A-ROSA FLORA and her crew at the end of a marvellous few days, as you begin your journey home.
