As the nights draw in and the temperature drops, our attention here at Newmarket Holidays turns to the most wonderful time of the year. More importantly, it turns to our incredible Lapland day trips.
2017 will be our fifth year of very special ‘Santa’ flights to Pajala, in Swedish Lapland, 100km inside the Arctic Circle. That means we’ve had four wonderful years throwing snowballs in minus 15c, four years riding husky-drawn sleds through the snow-blown wilds of the Arctic, four years getting to know the local reindeer, four years driving snowmobiles, four years hoping that every group of passengers gets to see the incredible Aurora Borealis and four years guiding awestruck children through candlelit woods to meet the man himself in his snow-covered cabin.
And that means we’ve got four year’s worth of wonderful photos taken by our team, our guests and our local Lappish hosts. They’re a little grainy, they’re a little blurred, some are over-exposed and some are under-exposed, and that’s exactly why we love them. They are photos taken in the midst of fun, photos by people making memories that will last a lifetime – and photos by people who’s cameras would’ve started to shut down if they were out in the cold for too long. We love them so much, in fact, that we’ve taken a few of our favourites and made a little video.
For those of you who prefer your videos a little higher resolution, you can watch our promotional Lapland day trip video here but we can’t help but love these wonderfully imperfect shots.
