Day One: Fly to Singapore

Fly overnight from London or Manchester to Singapore.

Day Two: Arrive in Singapore

Arriving at Singapore’s Changi Airport, you'll be met and transferred to the cruise terminal to embark Vasco da Gama. Settle in to your cabin, rest and relax after the journey or perhaps head back out to explore the gleaming island-city of Singabore. Vasco da Gama moors overnight, giving you plenty of opportunity to get to know this fascinating place.

Day Three: Sail from Singapore

Today brings a chance to get to know the gleaming, teeming place that has grown from British colonial outpost into one of Southeast Asia’s most dynamic metropolises, where remnants of past tradition – in Little India, China Town and the Colonial District crowned by Raffles Hotel – are not quite swamped by the ‘shop ‘til you drop’ glitz of Orchard Road’s malls or Marina Bay’s futuristic wonders. Optional shore excursions will introduce the city, after which you are free to shop and sightsee at your leisure.

Day Five: Penang

Colourful, Malaysian Penang is a feast for the senses. Step ashore to discover sensational street food, George Town's traditional Chinese shophouses, stunning beaches and breathtaking tropical gardens.

Day Six: Phuket

The island paradise of Phuket effortlessly combines idyllic beaches, luxurious developments, rubber plantations and a bustling main town. Enjoy a last taste of the orient here before Vasco da Gama heads across the Andaman Sea and into the Indian Ocean.

Day 10: Colombo

Today Vasco da Gama calls in the Sri Lankan capital, Colombo. Explore the restored Fort area of this bustling city, and the ancient street markets of Pettah, or perhaps to take a shore excursion into the lush, temple-studded countryside.

Day 12: Cochin

Kochi (also known as Cochin) on India's southwestern coast is built across a series of islands. A trading port for centuries, the city has a distinctly European feel, especially in Fort Cochin. It is also the port from which you can depart on a three-day excursion overland to discover Delhi and Agra, home to the Taj Mahal, before re-joining Vasco da Gama in Mumbai.

Day 14: Mormugao

This morning Vasco da Gama calls at Mormugao, principal port of the state of Goa, which nestles on a peninsula that juts out into the Arabian Sea. Step ashore for a taste of Goan life before re-boarding Vasco da Gama as she continues north.

Day 15: Mumbai

There's another chance to see an astonishing city spead out before you early this morning, as Vasco da Gama arrives in teeming, cacophonous Mumbai. In the city formerly known as Bombay you’ll discover sweeping Marine Drive, the monumental arch of the Gateway of India and the colonial splendour of the Taj Mahal Palace Hotel. Explore the grand former Prince of Wales Museum and the vast, Gothic fantasy of the Victoria Terminus railway station - all highlights on today’s optional shore excursion. Passengers who have visited Delhi and Agra will re-board the ship here.

Day 19: Salalah

After a few days relaxing aboard your floating home, you’ll arrive in Salalah, the perfume capital of Arabia. The Sultanate of Oman’s second city, this ancient settlement nestles amid a landscape of frankincense trees and coconut palms. Step ashore to explore, or perhaps to visit the ruins of the ancient fortified town of Sumhuram at Khor Rori.

Day 24: Safaga

From the Red Sea port of Safaga, an optional full-day excursion will take you to Luxor, once the ancient Egyptian capital Thebes. Discover temples at Luxor and Karnak, the vast columns of the Hypostyle Hall, and the awe-inspiring Valley of the Kings - where Howard Carter and Lord Carnarvon discovered Tutankhamun’s tomb. You’ll also visit the Temple of the female pharaoh, Hatshepsut, and gaze in awe at the twin Colossi of Memnon, which once stood guard at the entrance to a vast temple.

Day 25: Aqaba

Today brings another unforgettable optional excursion - from the luxurious Jordanian port of Aqaba into Wadi Rum’s mesmerising desert landscape and to the extraordinary Rose-Red City of Petra. Etched into the sandstone cliffs and hillsides, the lost city’s extraordinary buildings are among the most unforgettable sights on Earth.

Day 27: Suez Canal Transit

Passage through the world’s most famous - and busiest - waterway, the Suez Canal, brings Vasco da Gama into the Mediterranean, where a final quintet of calls brings the opportunity to discover yet more wonders a little closer to home.

Day 28: Ashdod

Another extraordinary, exciting day awaits at Ashdod, gateway to Israel and the Holy Land. Optional shore excursions include coastal resort city Tel Aviv, with its ancient neighbour Jaffa. Alternatively, travel into the Judean Hills to Jerusalem itself to discover the Wailing Wall, the labyrinthine souks of the Old City and Christianity’s holiest shrine, the Church of the Holy Sepulchre.

Day 30: Santorini and Mykonos

This morning, Vasco da Gama drops anchor off Santorini. The island’s picturesque main town is perched precariously atop the cliff, and its rocky shoreline (the remnants of an enormous extinct volcano) is dotted with fishing villages. Livelier, but no less lovely, is Vasco da Gama's second Cycladic call - Mykonos. Visit the famous, harbour-side windmills, explore the cobbled lanes of the cosmopolitan main town, or stop for a drink and a bite in one of the many excellent bars and restaurants.

Day 31: Piraeus

Today Vasco da Gama docks in Piraeus for a visit to beguiling, bustling Athens. Don’t miss the chance to climb the Acropolis to the ruins of the Parthenon, one of the world’s most enduring monuments, and an awe-inspiring window onto the city’s rich Classical past.

Day 33: Valletta

Vasco da Gama’s next Mediterranean island call is Malta, with its stunning natural Grand Harbour at Valletta. Explore the surrounding streets, or head into the rugged interior - perhaps to the haunting ’silent city’ of Mdina.

Day 34: Messina

The Sicilian town of Messina guards the Strait between Italy’s southern outpost and the mainland. This afternoon’s call offers the opportunity, on an optional shore excursion, to visit breathtaking Taormina, perched ‘between the sea and sky’ and overlooked by brooding Mt Etna.

Day 35: Naples

The great city of Naples sits on its beautiful bay, beneath brooding Vesuvius. Shore excursions offer opportunities to explore ancient Pompeii and famous Sorrento, set ’between the sea and the sky’, and the bustling city itself.

Day 36: Civitavecchia

Today’s call at Civitavecchia will give you the chance to take in some of the wonders of the ‘Eternal City’ Rome, where the three thousand years of history sit side by side with one of Europe’s most thriving metropolises, and where the Basilica of St Peter’s is one of the most visited sites on Earth.

Day 38: Barcelona

Early this morning Vasco da Gama arrives in the great Catalan city of Barcelona. Stroll down the famous Rambla, explore the brooding grandeur of the Barri Gotic, Barcelona’s medieval heart, stop off for some traditional tapas, and don’t miss Gaudi’s spectacular La Sagrada Familia.

Day 40: Gibraltar

A morning call in Gibraltar brings a first real taste of home. Wander past familiar British shops on Main Street, or perhaps to take the cable-car to the top of the Rock for views across the Straits to Africa.

Day 41: Casablanca

Today Vasco da Gama docks in Casablanca, renowned for its connections with the celebrated movie, but today a world away from Humphrey Bogart’s sleepy town. Startlingly modern, but retaining a sense of the past in its ancient medina, the city offers wonderful beaches, some designer shopping and the fascination of the gigantic Hassan II Mosque. Today also offers up the chance to join an unforgettable shore excursion to Marrakech to explore the tiny stores, alleys and hidden courtyards of the souks, and its vast, bustling square, the Djemaa El Fna.

Day 43: Lisbon

The last stop on our epic world cruise adventure is the great seafaring city of Lisbon - hub of the Age of Discovery. Our final shore excursion will give you the chance to explore the Portuguese capital before Vasco da Gama begins her final two-day passage home in the afternoon.

Day 46: Arrive in Tilbury

Vasco da Gama arrives back in London Tilbury, this morning, concluding an unforgettable cruise halfway around the world.

Days marked above with an anchor include ports where you will be transferred to shore by landing boat. These ports may be inaccessible for customers with mobility difficulties as a result. Any days not listed will be spent at sea.
