Sailing out of Hull and returning to Liverpool, this is a marvellous early summer opportunity to explore some of the stunning remote islands off our northern shores, including Orkney, Shetland and the Faroe Isles. Sit back, relax and enjoy all the pleasures of life on board Marco Polo as you discover some fascinating ports of call, teeming with wildlife.

Join much-loved Marco Polo as she sails cruises north from Hull to the islands of Orkney and Shetland, where you’ll stop at rugged Kirkwall and delightful Lerwick. Continue your northbound journey to the Danish Faroes, where Marco Polo makes two stops, the first at lovely Runavík, a picturesque fishing town, the second an overnight stay at the tiny exquisite capital, Tórshavn. Marco Polo then turns south, stopping at pretty Tobermory on the Isle of Mull, before continuing to Liverpool, where this wonderful cruise comes to an end.

Your Itinerary

    Board Marco Polo in Hull, today, and settle in to your cabin as she prepares to set sail. An optional coach transfer back to Hull will be available to book in advance.

  • Spend today relaxing, and getting to know Marco Polo, her crew and your fellow passengers.

  • Arrive: 0700hrs

    Depart: 2000hrs

    Today Marco Polo arrives in Kirkwall, Orkney's historic capital. Wander the streets and marvel at magnificent St Magnus Cathedral, or join an optional shore excursion to see the waters of Scapa Flow, Churchill's famous Barriers or the Italian Chapel.

  • Arrive: 0700hrs

    Depart: 1730hrs

    Marco Polo's next port is the Shetland capital, Lerwick. Spend time exploring this rugged but enchanting town, or join an excursion to the 3,000 year-old archaeological site at Jarlshof, with its Bronze and Iron Age remains.

  • Arrive: 1100hrs

    Depart: 1700hrs

    The picturesque fishing village of Runavík, on the island of Eysturoy is the first of Marco Polo's calls in the Danish Faroe Islands. Explore the rugged landscape beyond the port, perhaps even crossing the famous Bridge across the Atlantic, which connects Eysturoy the main island of Streymoy.

    This evening, Marco Polo will cruise around the Faroese Coast to Tórshavn, the tiny capital of the Faroes.

  • Arrive: 2130hrs (Day Five)

    Depart: 1800hrs (Day Six)

    The Faroes are a birdwatchers’ paradise in the heart of the Gulf Stream, and their inhabitants live surrounded by natural beauty. Discover Tórshavn’s confusion of lanes and narrow passages, black-tarred houses with turf roofs and modern centre, or join an optional excursion to another part of the islands.

  • Spend today relaxing on board.

  • Arrive: 0700hrs

    Depart: 1700hrs

    Tobermory’s waterfront parade of multi-coloured houses welcomes Marco Polo to the lovely island of Mull. Explore this delightful little town, visit nearby Duart Castle or simply let the spectacular coastal scenery take your breath away.

  • Arrive: 1200hrs

    Say goodbye to Marco Polo, her crew and your fellow passengers as she arrives in Liverpool, today, and you disembark at the end of a wonderful cruise.

    An optional coach transfer back to Hull will be available to book in advance.
