Your Itinerary

  • Board Marco Polo in Tilbury today, and settle in to your cabin as she prepares to set sail.

  • Enjoy your first day relaxing on board. Meet your fellow passengers and explore the ship's facilities.

  • Skirting the coast, Marco Polo heads to exquisite Bantry Bay. Go ashore to visit Glengariff, a green oasis where sub-tropical plants flourish set against the backdrop of the rugged Caha Mountains. Take an excursion into County Kerry and Killarney National Park, which sits beneath the wonderfully named Macgillycuddy’s Reeks, Ireland’s highest mountain range.

  • Relax on board as Marco Polo spends another few days at sea.

  • Canada’s historic St John’s was founded on the fishing industry, and its harbour is still a hive of activity. Stroll along Water Street, perhaps visiting the fascinating Newfoundland Museum. Alternatively, join an optional excursion to view Cape Spear, North America’s nearest point to Europe, or to Witless Bay, home to North America’s largest puffin colony.

  • Spend another restful day at sea.

  • Today, Marco Polo will cruise into the world’s second-largest natural harbour, at Halifax, Nova Scotia. Highlights here include the Maritime Museum of the Atlantic and the fortified Citadel. Further afield, Nova Scotia’s rugged coastline and the iconic lighthouse at Peggy’s Cove can be explored on an optional excursion.

  • Relax on board as Marco Polo spends another day at sea.

  • A morning call at Charlottetown reveals this delightful capital of Canada’s smallest province, Prince Edward Island. The setting for ’Anne of Green Gables’, and a gentle, agricultural land fringed by sandy beaches and picturesque inlets, PEI draws visitors from along the eastern seaboard and beyond to its pretty shores.

  • Relax as Marco Polo spends two days cruising south and into the St Lawrence River.

  • Montreal, Canada’s second-largest settlement, is also the world’s second-largest French-speaking metropolis. It’s a cosmopolitan melange of high culture, high fashion and high tech, with a waterfront rivalling Vancouver’s for glass and steel, and contrasting with bohemian Plateau Mont Royal and the cobblestones of Vieux Montreal.

  • Charming, historic Quebec is North America’s only walled city. Explore the narrow, cobbled alleyways of the lower Basse Ville, see the monumental Citadelle and the Chateau Frontenac hotel, or perhaps join fascinating optional shore excursions to nearby Montmorency Falls or the pilgrimage shrine at Ste-Anne-de-Beaupre.

  • Marco Polo calls today in Saguenay. Explore the pretty city or join a shore excursion into the Parc du Saguenay, an exquisite natural wonderland crowned by the majestic, 270km Saguenay Fjord. In the icy depths beneath its sheer cliffs, salt and fresh water mix to create the unique ecosystem that supports the area’s whale population.

  • Discover Baie-Comeau, gateway to a vast, beautiful wilderness. The city boasts a fascinating Glacier Exploration Station where there’s a chance to immerse yourself in the science of these wonders of nature. There will also be optional shore excursions into the pristine interior.

  • A morning call, at Havre Saint Pierre on the river’s north shore, brings an opportunity to visit the otherworldly limestone islands and granite islets of the Mingan Archipelago, home to seabirds, seals, dolphins and whales.

  • Cruising back along Newfoundland’s western shore, this morning we’ll call at Corner Brook, beautifully set on the Trans-Canada Highway, at the southern end of idyllic Deer Lake.

  • Spend a day in the idyllic Iles-de-la-Madeleine, a remote island group bathed by the warming Gulf Stream. The area’s unique culture combines French, English and ancient ’Arcadian’ traditions. Marco Polo anchors off principal island Cap-aux-Meules, and there’s an opportunity to head ashore to explore.

  • Don’t miss today’s chance to join a shore excursion from Sydney, Nova Scotia. Beyond this former mining town the stunning scenery of Cape Breton Island awaits, home to the scenic Cabot Trail and the Cape Bretons Highlands National Park.

  • Relax on board as Marco Polo spends the next five days crossing the Atlantic.

  • Ringaskiddy is gateway to the great Irish city of Cork. Discover this historic capital of southwest Ireland, or perhaps head into the beautiful rolling countryside beyond to fashionable Kinsale, or to Blarney Castle for a chance to kiss the Blarney Stone and receive ’’the gift of the gab’’.

  • Spend your final day at sea, reliving the memories of a wonderful Canada cruise.

  • Bid farewell to Marco Polo and all your fellow travellers, today, as you disembark in Tilbury at the end of your cruise.

Days marked above with an anchor include ports where you will be transferred to shore by landing boat. These ports may be inaccessible for customers with mobility difficulties as a result. Any days not listed will be spent at sea.
