Where stories begin
With half a century of cruising behind her, elegant Marco Polo is one of the UK’s favourite cruise ships. With a maximum passenger capacity of 850, her relatively small size means that you’ll enjoy a more intimate and personal cruising experience than that offered by her modern, mega-ship cousins
Joining your cruise couldn’t be easier, with sailings from a range of ports around the country. From your chosen departure port you can set sail on round-Britain voyages, journeys to the Norwegian Fjords or the Baltic Cities, or cruises to the coastal ports of France, Portugal and Spain. Alternatively, head to farther-flung destinations, such as Canada’s eastern seaboard, the mid-Atlantic Azores or the sun-kissed islands of the Caribbean.
Marco Polo cruises are exclusively for adults, with the emphasis on traditional British cruising. The combination of well-planned itineraries, excellent facilities, sumptuous food and friendly and attentive service ensures that you can look forward to a highly enjoyable and memorable holiday.
As Marco Polo arrives in each port of call, you’ll have the chance to explore, either at your own pace or on shore excursions lead by knowledgeable tour guides. Back aboard the ship, a wealth of leisure facilities and activities ensure your days spent at sea are equally fun-filled.
Foodies will be spoilt for choice, with Marco Polo’s chefs going out of their way to cook delectable feasts from morning through to night. The health conscious can burn off the calories at the on-board gym, choose to go for a swim or opt to go for a turn around the complete circuit of Columbus Deck.
During your down-time, choose to indulge yourself at the Wellness Centre, where you might opt for a massage, a beauty treatment or a soak in a deck-top Jacuzzi. Alternatively, challenge you fellow passengers to a game in the Nansen Card Room, recline on a sun lounger next to the swimming pool, or cosy up with a book in the Livingstone Library.
A daily programme of activities and events will keep you entertained throughout the day. Perhaps learn millinery, calligraphy or the art of jewellery making at a craft session; attend fascinating lectures from guest speakers; test your general knowledge in the daily quiz; or keep fit at an exercise or dance class.
Enjoy dinner each evening in the elegant Waldorf restaurant, the ship’s beautiful dining room, which operates two sittings. Alternatively, more informal dining takes places at Marco’s Restaurant, a light and relaxed bistro located next to the pool – the perfect spot for eating al fresco on warm days. On every cruise there will be Captain’s Welcome and Farewell parties, as well as a number of themed dinners at which you’ll enjoy local cuisine from the day's port of call.
Your evening might continue at one of the ship’s five lounges and bars, including the Marco Polo Show Lounge – where you can sit back to enjoy nightly cabaret shows. Alternatively, retreat to the Columbus Lounge piano bar or the Captain’s Club for a nightcap, or choose to dance the night away at Scott’s nightclub.
