Two days are spent at sea, offering the chance to relax and enjoy Magellan's many on-board amenities.
Day Five: Lisbon, Portugal
Today Magellan calls in Portuguese capital Lisbon, from where the great explorers sailed to the New World. Enjoy an optional shore excursion through the maze of narrow, hilly streets of the historic Alfamar district, a striking contrast to the modern city’s glass and steel.
Day Six: At sea
Enjoy a restful day at sea as Magellan cruises west.
Day Seven: Funchal, Madeira
Magellan reaches the sun-blessed shores of sub-tropical Madeira, to call in its colourful capital, Funchal. On this lush green island the wonderful Botanical Gardens are not to be missed, nor is an exhilarating wickerwork 'toboggan' ride from Monte to Livramento.
Day Eight: Santa Cruz, Tenerife
Tenerife is the largest of the Canary Islands, and today Magellan ties up at its principal port, Santa Cruz. This unforgettable island offers "the whole world in one day" - the chance to swim in warm waters, throw snowballs on the slopes of Spain's highest peak, Mt Teide, and shop in the capital’s glitzy shopping malls. A range of optional shore excursions will also be available.
Day Nine: Las Palmas, Gran Canaria
Arriving in the Canary Islands, Magellan calls at the great trading port of Las Palmas, gateway to Gran Canaria. Explore the bustling modern metropolis of Puerto de la Luz, or head to the palm-fringed squares of the old town, Vegueta. There will also be an optional excursion inland to take in some superb views.
Day 10: At sea
Another day is yours to enjoy on board the ship, as the on-board festivities begin in earnest.
Day 11 (Christmas Day): At sea
Enjoy a memorable Christmas Day at sea, as Magellan sails towards the Cape Verde islands, with traditional Christmas dinner, glittering entertainment, and the Captain and crew ensuring a wonderful time is had by all.
Day 12 (Boxing Day): Mindelo, Sao Vicente, Cape Verde
The 10 volcanic isles that make up the Cape Verde archipelago are fast becoming a popular holiday haven, despite (or perhaps because of) their remote position. Enjoy Boxing Day on the island of Sao Vicente, in its pretty capital Mindelo. Spend the day exploring this colonial outpost, with its attractive houses, or perhaps take an optional shore excursion inland.
Days 13-16: At sea
Spend four days relaxing on board, as Magellan sails towards the warm waters of the Caribbean.
Days 17-18 (New Year's Eve and New Year's Day): Bridgetown, Barbados
Magellan arrives in colourful Bridgetown, Barbados, in time to see in 2019 ashore or aboard. On New Year’s Day, discover the island capital, gateway to exquisite beaches, resort hotels and exclusive shore-side restaurants.
Day 19: Mayreau, Grenadines
Spend a lazy day dipping in and out of the blue water at tiny Mayreau, with its stunning beaches. Enjoy a beach barbecue, courtesy of the ship's chefs, or join an optional catamaran excursion to the Tobago Cays.
Day 20: St John's, Antigua
Today Magellan arrives in Antigua, where you’ll find wonderful scenery, powder-white sandy beaches and warm azure seas. St John's is the thriving main town, its main attractions gathered round the Redcliffe Quay. Elsewhere, the restored naval dockyard and the colonial forts of English Harbour and Shirley Heights provide interesting alternatives to the beach.
Day 21: Road Town, Tortola, British Virgin Islands
The sun-kissed beauty of the British Virgin Islands is yours to savour as Magellan anchors off Road Town, the historic, bustling principal town of Tortola, the largest in this exquisite group.
Day 22: Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic
Historic, colonial Santo Domingo, the capital of the Dominican Republic, was the New World’s first European-style city and the burial place, it is claimed, of Christopher Columbus, who made it his Caribbean base. Several nearby beaches add to the pleasure of a call here.
Day 23: At sea
Enjoy another idyllic day at sea as Magellan sails towards her final Caribbean call.
Day 24: Falmouth, Jamaica
Today Magellan arrives in Falmouth, colourful gateway to the resort hideaways and lush, verdant interior of Jamaica’s north coast. Step ashore to visit the port’s Georgian town centre, or to take an optional shore excursion - perhaps to sparkling Montego Bay or the delightful beaches of famous Ocho Rios.
Day 25: At sea
Enjoy a final relaxing day at sea as Magellan approaches Mexican waters.
Day 26: Cozumel, Mexico
Magellan arrives in Cozumel, a Mexican island fringed by a beautiful coral reef. This laid back, unashamedly cool haven is famed for its excellent snorkelling and diving opportunities and its stunning marine reserve. An optional excursion from here offers the chance to visit the magnificent Mayan ruins at Chichen Itza, one of the Seven Modern Wonders of the World.
Day 27: Disembark at the end of your cruise
Say a fond farewell to Magellan as you disembark today, and transfer to Cancun airport for your overnight flight back to London.
Days marked above with an anchor include ports where you will be transferred to shore by landing boat. These ports may be inaccessible for customers with mobility difficulties as a result. Any days not listed will be spent at sea.
British Citizens will need a full, 10-year passport to travel on this cruise.
