The fjords in early summer

This wonderful Whitsun cruise to Western Norway will feature long, light days – perfect for exploring one of the world’s most breathtaking regions. Visits to three stunning fjords, shoreside settlements, the colourful city of Bergen and Dutch Maritime gem Rotterdam make this a bank holiday trip to remember.

Join Columbus as she sets sail from Tilbury across the Channel to Rotterdam, with its pretty streets and squares, and then north to dramatic Flåm, home of the famous mountain railway. From here sail south, calling at Eidfjord, nestled in a breath-taking location where dense forests cling to towering mountain slopes that rise high above crystal-clear waters. An enjoyable stop at Bergen, unofficial capital of the fjords, its old town lined with wooden buildings, completes this wonderful cruise.

    Depart: 1400hrs

Your first stop is the Dutch maritime city of Rotterdam. See the striking architecture of Erasmus Bridge and the dazzling Markthal food market, explore the world-class museums and the lovingly preserved Old Harbour, or visit Delfshaven to take a stroll past its step-gabled houses and around its ancient wharves.

  • Spend today relaxing, and getting to know the ship, her crew and your fellow passengers.

  • Arrive: 0830hrs

    Depart: 1700hrs

The tiny village of Flåm, at the inner end of Aurlandsfjord (just one arm of vast Sognefjord) welcomes Columbus today. Here you'll have the chance to board the world-famous Flåmsbana Mountain Railway for the journey to Myrdal. Later this afternoon, the ship navigates her way into stunning Naerøyfjord where some of fjordland's prettiest scenery awaits.

  • Arrive: 1000hrs

    Depart: 1700hrs

Enjoy spectacular scenery as Columbus cruises through the 100km-long Hardangerfjord to Eidfjord. Here you can go ashore to enjoy an optional excursion through the beautiful surrounding countryside, perhaps taking in the famous Voringfossen waterfalls.

  • Arrive: 1000hrs

    Depart: 1630hrs

Compact and friendly, Bergen was once a great trading city within the Hanseatic League. It remains Norway's second city and, despite being sheltered from the sea by its seven hills and outlying islands, is unashamedly nautical in outlook. Visit the vibrant harbour and fish market, stroll past the wooden warehouses of Bryggen and take the Fløibanen funicular to the summit of 'Mount' Fløyen.

  • Make the most of your final day at sea, reliving the memories of your cruise holiday.

  • Arrive: 0800hrs

Bid farewell to Columbus and all your fellow travellers, today, as you disembark at the end of your fjords cruise.

Days marked above with an anchor include ports where you will be transferred to shore by landing boat. These ports may be inaccessible for customers with mobility difficulties as a result. Any days not listed will be spent at sea.
