    Spend the day exploring Amsterdam's canals, flower markets and museums. Wander cobbled streets lined with step-gabled buildings, stop for a drink and a bite to eat in one of the city's many excellent bars, cafes and restaurants, or take to the water on an optional canal cruise.

    Depart: 1800hrs

    This morning we'll tie up in the great natural harbour at Invergordon on Scotland's rugged East Coast. Step ashore to explore, or join an optional shore excursion, perhaps to Loch Ness in search of Nessie. Golfers may head to the fine course at nearby Dornoch, while whisky connoisseurs can make a pilgrimage to the celebrated Glen Ord Distillery.

    Columbus’ next port is the Shetland capital, Lerwick. This rugged, enchanting town is your gateway to a land of ancient legend, traditional crafts and an incredible abundance of bird-life. Wander the town, or join an excursion to the 3,000-year-old archaeological site at Jarlshof to discover its Bronze and Iron Age remains.

    Today Columbus arrives in Kirkwall, Orkney's historic capital. Wander the streets and marvel at magnificent St Magnus Cathedral, or join an excursion to see the naval battlesite at Scapa Flow, Churchill's famous Barriers or the Italian Chapel.

    Depart: 1900hrs

    The Isle of Skye is your next port of call. Spend the day in picturesque Portree, with its quayside fish and chip shops, or join an excursion and head north, past the Old Man of Storr, to Duntum's Museum of Island Life; west to brooding Dunvegan Castle; south past the spectacular Cuillins; or even across the bridge to mainland Scotland.

    The small town of Tobermory on the beautiful island of Mull, with its picturesque, multi-coloured houses encircling the waterfront, is a delightful place to explore, as is nearby Duart Castle, the famous seat of Clan Maclean.

    Depart: 1830hrs

    Early this morning, Columbus arrives in historic Belfast. Explore the city centre, visit the new Titanic Quarter developments that pay homage to the ill-fated vessel, or join an optional excursion to the vast stone staircase of the Giant’s Causeway on the Antrim Coast beyond.

  • Arrive: 1200hrs

    Depart: 1900hrs

    Ringaskiddy, at the mouth of the river Lee, lies just around the coast from the great trading city of Cork, the historic capital of south-west Ireland. Step ashore to explore, and perhaps head to foodie heaven Kinsale or famous Blarney Castle - where kissing the Blarney Stone is said to grant you "the gift of the gab".

    Depart: 2000hrs

    This morning finds us in the Isles of Scilly. Columbus anchors here in sheltered waters, giving you the opportunity to go ashore to explore Hugh Town on St Mary's, the flower-strewn byways beyond, and stunning Tresco, where the famous Abbey Gardens house Britain's finest subtropical plant collection.

  • Arrive: 0730hrs

    Depart: 1900hrs

    Guernsey's St Peter Port welcomes us, this morning. See 800-year-old Castle Cornet, which guards the entrance to the harbour, wander the cobbled central quarter and make the most of the island's tax-free shopping.

  • Arrive: 0515hrs

    Depart: 1500hrs

    Crossing the Channel, your last port of call is Honfleur, at the mouth of the Seine. Wander the streets behind the pretty harbour, or perhaps join an optional excursion into the surrounding countryside.

  • Arrive: 0700hrs

    Bid farewell to Columbus, her crew and your fellow travellers, today, as you disembark at the end of your cruise.
